Gunfire broke out at a high school football game in New Jersey on Friday night, sending terrified fans diving under bleachers and leaving at least two people hospitalized. The shooting took place at the end of the third quarter of the game between Camden High School and Pleasantville High School. Several Pleasantville players said they initially thought the gunshots were fireworks, but once they realized what the sounds were, they ran through a fence.

I'm singing the Eastside High alma mater in my head, as re-written by Ms. Levias (unauthorized).

Every 100 years we need to banish the bottom 15% from society.

CAmden HS gets a 1 out of 10 in the great schools ranking. I've never seen a school get a 1.

I went back to my high school for a football game once while I was in college and we were playing a school that was predominantly made up of a certain demographic. Well, about 5 mins of game clock before halftime they start popping off.

Now, I'm not a person who is easily frightened or anything, but in that moment, I absolutely just froze up. Luckily for me, I was around the 10 yard line on the home team side. The shooting occured on the visitor side near the opposite endzone, so it was pretty far away. Probably out of pistol range to do any lethal damage.

The aftermath of people running in every direction was total chaos. I also remember no one could call out on their cell phones due to overloading the network, I assume. Anyways, this story reminded me of that

I'd say a mental stability test and basic IQ.

ETA: And all convicted violent felons.

Was it thugs fighting by the bleachers or someone just firing into the crowd?

One of the victims is among those charged because he also had a gun.

Another victim is a 10 year old who was shot in the neck and is in critical condition.

This was in the early 90s, I was a freshman in HS. During football season my school's football team got into a huge fight with another high school team (Mckinley). They had people running out of the stands to go fight.. It was an all out brawl.

In basketball we had to beat McKinley to win district and would either be a #1 or #2 seed in the playoffs. We beat McKinley in a close one. The gym was packed. They had to open the cafeteria and put the game on the TV in there and then had to stop letting people in because of fire safety reasons.. It was a close game and we won and it was getting intense. When the game was over we waited for a few mins to let the crowd clear out.. As we were heading for the exit we heard pop..pop... pop.. All of a sudden people just started running back in screaming.. "they shootin!"..

Evidently there were a few fights in the parking lot and things were getting a little out of control so some jackass decided to shoot in the air to get everybody to calm down.. And the third shot was an accident. He was lowering his arm and accidentally pulled the driver and shot out someone's window.

Anyway, did they get to finish the game?

“My school had two incidents with McKinley in high school. There was a huge brawl involving everyone at a football game. Then playing them in basketball, someone started shooting outside after the game.”

That’s about all the words needed.

Did I hear the coach at the end ask "where is the football we still have three minutes to play"?
