A 20 rd drum loaded with buckshot would be way more devastating and deadly than a 30 rd mag loaded with 5.56 at close quarters. 3 drums would probably equal 100+ dead

There is no way one guy killed 50 people with an AR-15 unless it was belt fed. After the first couple shots everyone would scramble for the door.. Hell, once he ran out of bullets he could have been rushed and taken care of. There had to be multiple shooters.

The Aurora guy only killed 12 in a packed theater full of tear gas.

Semi auto shotgun with a few 30rd drums of 00 buck shot would do alot more damage in that place. 223, pfft, people walk away from that all the time.

Let me know when a guy with a screwdriver kills 50 people in a club

I was thinking in crowded close quarters like that, many of the rounds from the AR probably penetrated more than one person.

But I'm not sure if that could account for over 100 people dead and wounded. I have not seen anything about how many rounds he might have fired or how many magazines he had on him.

There were enough cleaning supplies already in the bar to kill everyone 10x over.

At the very leasy, scorch their lungs.

You game board nerds need to stop showing your ignorance. A hot .22 round will put a hole through a cinder block. He did not need a drum to kill and wound all these people.

I've been told there's no point in having laws because criminals don't obey the law anyway.

Laws don't prevent crime. They simply allow us to prosecute the crime.

That said, banning weapons has never deterred criminals from owning them. Never has, never will.

I'm not anti-gun at all. I'm actually pro second amendment. But, I don't think the argument that laws won't stop a criminal from owning a gun is a good one. In the sense that the anti-gun at it's core would love to search every house and confiscate your guns (they won't say it, but they'd be for it). If you look at places like Australia, pretty much wiping out all guns has definitely reduced their violence specifically committed with guns. But they didn't just ban mean looking guns, they got rid of damned near everything that made a loud noise. So to that affect, it may be right that gun free zones etc. are stupid, but wiping out 90% of guns would definitely reduce gun deaths. It's just at what point are we willing to give away our freedom for security.

Doubtful. It's not cut and dry, but I've seen what 00 buck does at close range to a deer and it's not that impressive. At least not nearly as impressive as people in this thread are making it sound. It all depends on the shooter, and at best I'd call it a wash.

News is showing a picture of a Glock.

Glock has some definite "EDGY" angles for marketing and advertising if they choose? The taglines would not be for everybody.

And the rest of their violent crime rate went up.

But did nothing, overall, to their murder rate - actually, there was initially a spike, then it returned to preban rates and continued downward on the same slope, more or less, as other Western nations and their own preban slope.

The UK banned handguns and experienced a 50 to 60% increase in their homicide rate. They threw money and cops at the problem and brought it back to preban levels by 2011 or 2012.

Gun bans do NOTHING for a nation's homicide rate.

Because you're pretty ignorant, cover that in the next sentence though.

Wiping out guns? If you had a clue you'd know Australia has as many guns now than they ever did before the 1996 laws. More actually. They still have shootings too.
