My point is that of all the tools you can use to commit mass murder, the tool of choice in the US is guns. Why guns? Well, because they're really good at their job and they're not hard to find/get.
But if the amount of guns were a huge problem, why isn't the gun violence rate higher? And lawful gun owners make up a very small percentage of perpetrators of gun violence.

Are you saying that the number of people killed in “mass shootings” dwarfs black on black crime or is dwarfed by black on black crime?
