Off in the house, house shoes on

If I didn’t have dogs that put hair all over and children, I’d take my shoes off.
My friend does this but it’s just him so I can understand it’s one less thing to clean and worry about.

I live in a clean area not a sewer town, so we’re not tracking in anything crazy, shoes on.

We have a lab mix dog that stays inside. Us taking our shoes off inside would be like a .0001% decrease in floor dirty-ness. Just not worth it. We run a roomba every day and my 2 year old will still have dog hair covering her socks. When the dog is no longer with us, I've thought about moving to shoeless. Would never ask a guest though.

I can’t believe the amount of people in this thread that say “no shoes in the house”
I’ve been to thousands of homes and never once been asked to take off my shoes when entering. Y’all are weirdos.
Or everyone I associate with is in the minority?

Off because it feels good walking around without shoes and stops tracking cut grass clippings, etc. throughout the house.

A childhood friend of mine's parents had the no shoes rule and my wife's grandparents but that's the only 2 houses I can ever think of where I was required to take them off.

I get comfortable when I’m home for the day and have house shoes that are slip ons. I don’t ask anyone to take off their shoes when they visit.

Just about everyone has also said they never ask their guests to take shoes off. I’m in that boat. I actually don’t ask my family to do it downstairs, just take em off at the bottom of the stairs before they go up to their rooms. If they’re muddy or something they’ll drop em off in the mud room.

The doormat that leads from the garage to the house tells me all I need to know about not wearing shoes in our house. I clean it 3-4 times a week and it’s still always dirty.

Americans like to look down on other customs or countries but two things I will never understand: - shoes in the house - dogs that sleep in the bed Both are disgusting.
Having dogs in the house is disgusting. Dogs step in their own pee and poop all the time and then run around in your house. Dogs are more disgusting than people wearing shoes inside a house.

Wife flips out because I wear tennis shoes in the house. I like shoes because you can do tasks much faster than if walking around with bare feet or with socks, plus it’s protection from stubbing my toe.
I always try to get a pair of indoor shoes, but it eventually winds of outside to take out the trash or play with the kids

Hardly anyone in here is saying that they ask guests to take their shoes off.
but logically speaking, it makes perfect sense to prefer no shoes on in the house.

I have some inside shoes I only wear in the house. They stay clean that way.

I grew up wearing shoes in the house unless they were dirty. When I lived alone my shoes always stayed on. It is not hard to clean up stained concrete floors. Wife implemented shoes off when we got married after we bought a new home. I comply 95% of the time. Even with shoes off the floors still get dirty b/c I am very unlikely to put shoes on if I am running outside for just a second.

I started keeping mine on. One day, last year, I stumped my toe on an ottoman and ripped my toenail off. Frick ever feeling that again.

Frankly if you don't have house shoes, you're missing out.
I have comfy orvis and adidas slides for the spring, summer, fall, and some warmer house slippers for the winter. All have rubber souls just in case I have to run to bring the trash out or get the mail(only on pavement), but they rarely see outside.
