Shocking News of the Day - Americans Strongly Dislike PC Culture

On social media, the country seems to divide into two neat camps: Call them the woke and the resentful. Team Resentment is manned—pun very much intended—by people who are predominantly old and almost exclusively white. Team Woke is young, likely to be female, and predominantly black, brown, or Asian (though white “allies” do their dutiful part). These teams are roughly equal in number, and they disagree most vehemently, as well as most routinely, about the catchall known as political correctness.
Reality is nothing like this. As scholars Stephen Hawkins, Daniel Yudkin, Miriam Juan-Torres, and Tim Dixon argue in a report published Wednesday, “Hidden Tribes: A Study of America’s Polarized Landscape,” most Americans don’t fit into either of these camps. They also share more common ground than the daily fights on social media might suggest—including a general aversion to PC culture.
Among the general population, a full 80 percent believe that “political correctness is a problem in our country.” Even young people are uncomfortable with it, including 74 percent ages 24 to 29, and 79 percent under age 24. On this particular issue, the woke are in a clear minority across allages.

Imagine that. People don’t like being told they can’t do or think or say things because some busybody pissant might get their feelings hurt.

As in “they woke up from the dream world”
Unfortunately the reality that many of the “woke” embrace is utterly false. Put it this way...Kibbles, Gravy and Helmet think they are “woke”...
And they aren’t even in the same ballpark as rational, logical thinking.

what is the origin of this word/word-use?
I doubt the unconscious man wanted to maintain his hypersensitivity to the social and political climate of his surroundings at that very moment.

PC is so unrealistic and impossible to make happen.

In reality, if everyone had their full daily dialogue on display, 99% of people would be bludgeoned to death by the PC crowd.
It's all a projection, and the worst violaters are typically the one's who are nonstop virtue signaling.

Because we have free speech, people will say some shite you don't like sometimes.. I rather have free speech than be protected from people who might say some shite I don't like sometimes. So this isn't surprising.

The "woke" are usually white soyboys.
Minorities have more important concerns than frivolous PC nonsense.

There's a lot of stones being thrown in glass houses. When people do something that seems to be a little questionable most people start throwing those stones and don't really stop to think to themselves, wait, I do/say the same things sometimes whether that be on purpose/accident. Our standard for people is becoming paralyzingly high. Mistakes will be made. If things are obviously not done with malicious intent then I think more benefit of the doubt needs to be given. Also its like people are out for blood now. Any transgression even seemingly minor mistakes are met with firings and essential blacklisting. What happened to punishing people and suspending them or working with them to improve rather than just cutting and running?

The real truth is most of them are anti-PC when it is something with which they agree. But when they agree with the cause it’s okay to be PC.

Well about 320 million people in this country like to keep to themselves, and have the capacity to know right from wrong and truth from lies.
But only about 1/2 of them care to vote their conscious though.
