looking for a gun that a small woman would feel comfortable enough with to use

If a 12g shotgun is what you’re considering I’d recommend taking her out to train often. After the first time she shoots it it may take a lot of practice and encouragement from you for her to feel comfortable and confident shooting it.

Shotgun is an excellent option, but for a petite woman it can be a challenge. A 20g might be an option, though I’m sure you’ll get some pushback here about that.

I don’t like to make recommendations on an actual firearm because everyone is different. But a full-sized 9mm with at least a 4”+ barrel loaded good self-defense ammo could be one to look at. Infinite options exist for this one, so take her to a range and let her try what they have to determine the grip, which she handles better (recoil)… lastly, she may prefer a revolver, so try that too. A 38/357 might be an option. Good luck.

Dumb. You should have had the shotgun racked right after you grabbed it. You don’t wait to rack.

A 20g shotgun is really good for a female to start off with and is plenty lethal. Then graduate to a 12g.

I've always believed that a warning shot is kind of bullshite unless it comes with the lesson that they aren't scared to shoot you.

Wait, are you a female? This is weak, female logic. This halfassed approach to self defense is the mindset of someone who doesn’t know what they are up against.

Your naïve opinion of what these turds are capable of is how people get murdered and raped and assaulted. You want to give them the benefit of the doubt and they prey on that grow up and accept the fact that these people can and will do you deadly harm if you are not 100% committed to defending yourself and your loved ones from them.

Bird shot is for birds.

Speaking as a mom, she should already realize this. Mosquito, spider, dog, intruder…something poses a threat to my baby, I kill it. May have some emotional fallout after— so be it. But I will never feel less than justified.

After reading your ideas about guns, I think it’s best if you just move to a white neighborhood and remain unarmed.

You might even stop being a Democrat now that you’ve gotten a dose of Democrat policy.

Never owned a gun in my life, never felt the need to.

But now I have a newborn who's hopefully coming home from NICU soon and her mother in the house.

I'm pretty sure he looked in the window because he heard my partner going to the kitchen and tried to open the door when he saw her, so now I'm in the market for a gun for her to have in the house.

Suggestions are welcomed. I kind of feel like a shotgun would be ok, just point and shoot. Something will get hit. Especially if it's a shorter barrel.

If only you had a firearm sooner you could've spared your neighbors and this would not have happened again. Looks like the exact same fella.

A family member lived near there from the 70s through the late 90s....This isn't anything new- but it isn't getting better, either.

That entire area is within walking distance of The Daily Chaos. Want to talk about something "systemic" in Baton Rouge? There you have it.....
