Better yet, you and her should just use salt rounds from here on out.
So a methed-out perp can laugh at you, take the gun away from you, and beat you to death with it.

None. And hopefully, I’ll never have to.

I would find a good firearms instructor in your area. A gun is not a toy and its use is to be taken very seriously.
Start reading up on the works of Massad Ayoob. He has tons of books and has lots of youtube videos.
Find a good pro-2nd amendment lawyer and have him/her on a retainer just in case you have to use deadly force.

What I DO know is that I’m prepared. With military training to fall back on.
Tell us, tough guy, what’s YOUR body count? You seem absolutely about to piss your pants wanting to tell us all about it.

I can tell her what to do. I can take her to get training and practice. I can drill into her head what needs to be done and what to think and worry about in any situation.
What I can't do is force her to act in a certain way if the situation ever does arrive, especially if I'm not there.
Maybe she follows her training and the agreed upon procedures for the situation, and maybe she panics, or freezes.
You don't know how people will respond to emergency situations.
We all love to believe that we would rise to the occasion and save the day, overcome the bad guys, but chances are you won't. You'll most likely freeze or run and hide.
The majority of the world tends to panic and succumb to anxiety.
You come across as someone who runs and hides.
ETA: And let's get one thing straight (this is something that's bothered me for a while): the first priority is not to kill, it's to end the threat. A shell filled with rock salt can accomplish that just as well as lethal ammunition can.
Unless the threat has a reason to attack you, personal or business, then bird shot will almost always end the threat and you don't need to worry about dealing with the aftermath of taking a life.
Some random person breaking into your house is not going to continue their attempt after hearing a gun blast and getting hit by shot. They are either going to fall down crying about how you shot them until the police arrive or they are going to run away, abandoning the crime they were attempting.
Either way, the threat is ended.
The whole "shot to kill" to end any threat mentality is actually a poorly thought out philosophy. Maybe you do have to kill to end the threat, but that should be your secondary plan.
The first strategy should always be to scare them away or incapacitate them first. It's less stress and anxiety if the first thing you focus on in that scenario is to scare or wound, meaning you don't have to worry about aiming, position, specific location, etc. Just fire in the general direction.
Your first priority isn't to kill, it's to end the threat. The best option for that is a dog. The second best is a gun.
Can't get a dog right now, so looking for a gun that a small woman would feel comfortable enough with to use and also good for someone who gets anxious in high stress situations.
this almost feels like a troll.
I’m starting to think ol Baw may have been there to dick down ur ol lady since she obviously hasn’t had any good pipe in years

Is this the part of the narrative where we mock those who have the means to defend themselves? This is always fun.
Advocate your entire existence for these types to terrorize the populace. When the populace has had enough and wants to defend themselves from the terrorists, we then mock them for wanting the safety you gleefully compromised while calling them racists.

I'm not the one talking about having to kill other people. I just recommended a couple of firearms that I think fit his use case.
If the man wants to use rock salt or birdshot, that's on him. I'm not here to tell him he needs more lethality. I've just noticed that guys in threads like this who talk the most about how and why to kill people, never actually have. The men I've known who have killed other men don't generally like to talk about it so much.

Surprised somebody hasnt recommended bear spray just for the lolz. Spray it in an enclosed place and errbody going to be incapacitated peacefully

Never needed one. Had a lot of dogs protecting the house growing up, better deterrent and home defense than a gun.

I never told him otherwise. OP is free to do what he wants.
I merely gave my assessment of the situation. If someone breaks into my house in the middle of the night, I’m going to assume he means me harm. And I’m prepared to neutralize that threat. That’s not talking shite, that’s just a fact.

I made my firearms recommendations to the OP without judging him.

I don't know what you're trying to say here, but I'm sorry you're terrified. Personally, I'm not scared.

I always advocate that people take a good CC class, even though it’s not required to conceal carry anymore. A lot of good information in those.

You think you are, but you never know until you find yourself in that situation - which will probably never happen, thankfully.

Whatever you get, a weapon mounted light is a must have
A shotgun isn’t the magic solution that people present. The distance that you’ll likely be engaging someone won’t be far enough for the projectiles to pattern what people think a traditional shotgun group would be. That’s why I suggest a pistol caliber carbine capable of mounting a light. Easier to shoot than a pistol, low recoil, and easy follow up shots.

Yep. A good CC class instructor will point out a lot of critical information.
Massad Ayoob gives some critical advice if a person has to use deadly force.
The perp may be the relative/friend of the police, DA, judge...of the attacking thug. The DA, judge, police officer...could be a woke POS or has some sort of grudge against you or one of your family members.
Lots of people are sitting prison right now because they spoke too much at the scene or at the police station.
Give a brief statement then INVOKE (yes say INVOKE) your right to consult with your lawyer before giving any kind of statement. IOW, BE QUIET.
