How? At the injection site or general aches?

Shingles killed my grandfather. It was slow agonizing death.

Get it. Won't hurt. May help you miss out on all the fun of getting the shingles. I worked with a guy one year younger than me. Three years ago I told him he needed to do this. He said he'd pass. Two years ago he got shingles. I didn't call and say I told you so, but he acknowledged that he should have taken my advice.

I’ll get it at 50.

Second dose will kick your arse. Take it on a Friday where you don’t have much else to do.

Have had both shots, zero side issues, both shots. A friend had it & his rash was dangerously close to his right eye. Had the rash entered his eye, he could have gone blind in that eye. And it can pop anywhere on the body.

Yes. Seen some very very bad episodes of shingles from family members, some that left permanent nerve damage. I got it as soon as I turned 50.

First shot had soreness, second felt a little dizzy/cold later that evening, but very very minor inconvenience.

I had the two shingles vaccines one year ago. I did have a moderately sore arm and flu-like symptoms for a day and a half. But compared to contracting shingles, worth the inconvenience.

My father in law got it, and that’s the worst off I’ve ever seen a person that wasn’t hospitalized. Stayed sitting and sleeping in his rocking chair for 6-8 weeks. To this day he can barely close his fists or write with a pen.

I've had shingles. Worst pain I've ever dealt with in my life. Get the vaccine.

I’ve passed on it. Chances of getting shingles are pretty low.

That vacc has been around longer than the experiment. It’s a shame it turned political and how the gov behaved bc now it’s hard to trust any medial. Those docs bowed the knee and lost a lot of credibility. That said, while I don’t take the flu vacc, I’ll probably get the shingles vacc.

I got the old, single-injection version about 10 years ago and intended to get the new one but didn't. I broke out with shingles on my head, neck and shoulder right after Christmas and still have it. It's no fun. I have been essentially non-functional the whole time. The head pain is the worst.

Stats are that 30 percent of folks who had the chicken pox get shingles if not vaxed. I'm getting the new one as soon as this clears up.

Oof. Not sure if super cereal.

ETA: I’m not opining on the shingles shot. Sounds like a reasonable one to me.

I had shingles about 10 years ago. I recently took the 2 shot regimen. Very odd but my arm got very sore after the first dose. It also was very red about 4inch diameter around injection site. Second shot was fine. I can't explain it but that was my experience. I'd definitely recommend getting the shots. The only reason I waited so long was our APRN at work told me not to get it because I'd already had shingles.

By the time I turned 50 I had already had shingles.
