Does it appear that long sentences are deterring criminals? Isn't that the point? Making them super longer isn't going to make it more effective. It's going to get a negative backlash and end up flipping the debate.

Actually I do. I lived with it and dealt with it day in and day out for large segment of my adult life, and I never asked for that, but suffice it to say that I don’t really need a lecture from some random internet poster on that matter to let me know what the effects are. That wasn’t my point, but rather that it’s the same outrage or effects from it, and it just isn’t because of our natures as male and female. I watched it literally cripple a person I loved, and I mean incapacitate them. It’s the effects on what I’ve seen in women and the fact that as a man it’s a part of my nature to protect women , not abuse them that it’s so abhorrent when I hear a man abusing them. It’s not that I don’t think there are effects from a boy having sex with a grown woman, long term, but males being more resilient and able to not internalize it so emotionally as women, it’s not nearly as repulsive as it is with a little girl
I know fully well this flies in the face of our new reinvention of roles, and I seriously don’t care, but you’re asking me to be as outraged at a boy having sex on multiple occasions with a grown woman as I am when a fully grown man has his way with a little girl, and that shite is never going to be the same thing to me. Both are wrong, and should never be tolerated in society but I’m never going to be as repulsed by one as much as I am the other,

Good question.
As I said the other day on a similar thread, I think the call for draconian laws is based in poor parenting and a rotten society. This could have been prevented if people would implement reasonable restraints on their children and their activities.
I can't believe this is the first time this woman has violated social norms. She's not right.

Just a head’s up, in this context, gender is a made up word and means nothing. Sex is how we refer to male/female in humans. Gender is how we refer to inanimate objects in Spanish.

Deeply sorry for your personal experience but that is just that - your personal experience and you cannot translate that to the general population.
And I am not just “a random poster” on this topic. I am a psychiatrist with a quarter of a century of clinical experience. I have been the lead author on published papers in several medical journals and served on the faculty of 3 different academic institutions. I have personally treated well over 250 male victims of sexual assault.
I don’t list my work experience to make this about me. Because it has nothing to do with me other than I have sat in a room talking with and prescribing to these teens and young adults who cannot experience normal adult intimacy. It’s not just “high fives” and great stories with their drinking buddies.
This perverted woman destroyed two young boys lives. She should be in jail for the rest of her life.

And probably a million more were abused the same, and ended up being normal everyday taxpaying citizens, who never killed anyone. Not sure about serial killers, but there has to be tons of killers in prison who weren’t abused as kids.

How do you think that would affect the boy ? Knowing he got a piece of arse and the woman was killed for it ?
What she did was wrong for sure.
Men are supposed to protect little girls. Treat the boy as an upcoming man and he will be fine.
You can’t “ unfrick” the kid. It happened. let it blow by.
I’m no expert. Has Jody commented in this thread? I didn’t search. I would defer to his opinion as I fully respect him.
