Prior to my retirement and before Life 360 and similar apps became popular, I would make sure my location was on for my camera and I would snap pics of the rear (license & car model) of my rental and send it to my daughter and brother who knew how to find my location.

My wife had no clue, so she'd call our daughter who would give her my last known location.

This was for emergencies in case I came up missing. I'm old and traveled all over the US and Canada.

It was an logical step to add Life 360 to my phone.

We have the capability of logging into Find if needed, but no, it’s not a normal thing.

I sure do. When I go somewhere I'll be like "Hey, toots, I''m going to..." And then I leave.

I share my location with my wife so when I go for a run and don't return for a long time she can check and see that I'm still on my route and not lying in a ditch.

If she saw my phone go to a neighborhood and be at a strange house, I promise her first thought would not be that I was cheating, it would be that I'm in some sort of trouble or my phone has been stolen.

Tracking is only creepy if the only reason you can think to track is to keep tabs on someone based on insecurity. We keep tabs on each other to ensure we are safe if we are going to be a part for a while or doing something that has an element of danger to it.

Years ago, when my wife asked to share locations I said hell no. As time has passed I have warmed up to it. I travel by driving alone back and forth from TX to CO and am alone on our property in CO doing all kinds of work. I am 57. Now I want my wife and kids to know where I am. We all use the Find My Phone app for iPhone to share our locations.

We started using Life360 when the kids were in high school, then at LSU (We're in Lafayette). We just kept using it because it is handy. I work out of town about half the year, and our adult son still lives at our house (his mom feels safer having him there when I'm gone). My wife uses it to know when I'm getting close to home if I'm coming in and when our son is headed home from work (he sometimes works late hours and has about a 40-minute drive), so she can prepare or reheat dinner or know if she has time to run an errand before I get home.

It's a convenience thing.

There are no trust issues. I just find the constant tracking inherently creepy. He does, too, so I guess that means I married the right man. How many of y’all are like me and just find some inherent weirdness to always sharing location?

Do whatever makes you happy, nobody cares about your relationship, lol. My wife, my kids all do it for safety reasons. It has nothing to do with lack of trust. That never even occurred to us. Strictly for safety. I never check and won’t unless there is a problem.

Also use it this way as well. If a family member is coming home from a long trip I like to know how long I have to prepare food. Good point. It's not something I even care to monitor. It's just a safety thing and also conveniant to know how long you have. I would rather quickly check this than calling them while they are driving.

The only times I check it are when family members are coming home from out of town or they have been gone for a really long time and it seems concerning.

Airtags in cars could also be useful.

I don’t share with my wife just because I don’t want to have to answer a zillion questions about my whereabouts. My work requires me to visit customers, business lunches etc.

Nothing to hide just don’t want to have to explain for 10 - 15 minutes each day who I was meeting with etc

It's not because of trust issues. It's just handy to know where everyone's at.

Plus it's mainly to keep track of the kids

This. We got Life 360 to see where the kids are at, but the wife and I are on it as well. Don’t see a problem.

I think it’s weird as hell. I have a 17 and 19 year old and I’ve never tracked either one of them.

This board will get all nostalgic about the 80’s and 90’s and life before social media and the internet and how it was the greatest period of human history but frankly I don’t know how most of you survived it.

There is a difference between being ABLE to check someone's location and actually CHECKING it. Bit say something happened to your significant other. I'm not sure I'd want them be reliant in having to manually enable tracking.

I got in a bit of a nasty wreck out in West TX a few years back, and my wife was alerted to emergency vehicles heading to my location. Fortunately, I was ok and was able to call her before they even arrived to let her know what happened.

A little bit of common sense and some dumb luck.
