Settle a debate: if you did a hole on a full moon...will you have extra dirt?

Bunch old dudes have been telling me:
If you dig a hole on a full moon and go to refill it that night, you'll always have extra dirt.
If you dig a hole on a new moon, you'll never have enough dirt to fill it up.
I say it's false unless there is some valid theory with the gravitational pull of the moon.
Old people say it's true regardless. It just is. II ask them to prove it and they say "it's true"
So, is this true or false?

YES! If you dig it on a new moon there will NOT be enough dirt to put it back.
Husband is a farmer ... he says it's true. And he's seen it happen.

You will need a mud stretcher to refill if dug on a full moon.

The moon already has a bunch of holes. Why would you need to dig more?

Grandma always said so. I doubt it but there is always a little truth in old wives tales.

We've never really been there before. It was all Hollywood.

No logical explanation usually means it is not true and a old wives' tale.

Wow... I had to read the OP a few times to get meaning...
The absolute answer is no... The Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy dictates that the amount of matter does not change regardless of moon phase.
The common sense answer is that it may appear that there are extra dirt because of the packing of the ground and the dirt less packed once you dig it out.

When I do a hole, I don't ever put dirt in it. Is that some kind of sick fetish?
