It just seems like there are so many young people, in their late teens and early 20’s that are dying. In the past couple of days, I heard about a med school student that took his own life and an 18 year old mechanical engineering student whose cause of death was not disclosed. These two had bright futures ahead of them that will not come to pass.

I know death is all around us and is a part of life. It is very tragic to me when a person’s life is cut short at such a young age, before they really get a chance to live their life. Not too many things more sad than that.

All of the efforts to improve "mental health" are seemingly making the situation worse.

With a couple of kids in college two things scare me most:

Pills, any kind, being fake a laced with Fent. Could be a kid who gets talked into taking what they think is an adderall or something and they are just dead after a dumb decision.

Loneliness/isolation. The time between 18-24 or so can be really rough on young people. Many move away from the friends and family they’ve known and there aren’t near as many things connecting people today as before. Church, in person parties/events (unless they like getting fricked up all the time), etc. Add in the possibility of failure in some way (school/social/etc) for the first time in many of their lives and it’s a recipe for issues.

I stress to mine every time I see them “don’t take any pills or powders or whatever” and “failure of any kind isn’t the end. Your life is just starting, no matter what happens, you have options that lead to a happy successful life”.

God bless all these young people trying to navigate between childhood and adulthood.

mental health with the anxious generation and also younger people getting cancer.

I listen to tons of medical pods and colon and rectal cancers have skyrocketed this century for men under 50. Thats why they lowered the min age to 45 and it will soon be 40.

Same with women and cervical.

Many thing its the 80s kids that grew up in the processed food generation where sugar took over. I can attest to eating a box of cereal every Saturday morning and watching some Saved by the Bell and California Dreams. Maybe start a second box for NBA Inside Stuff

Make no mistake, these works were commissioned as a placeholder between sugary cereal commercials.

What efforts are being made to improve mental health?

There's lots of effort to claim certain mental health behaviors are normal and acceptable for daily life. That's the prime reason mental health has gotten considerably worse over time. It's not just mental health that has been fricked with though. Let's not forget that it's okay and actually great to be fat now too.

That’s an extraordinary number - 6.5% of your class died in five years in car wrecks alone?

I agree, but it's a qualified agree. I see a psychologist, but I'm in my forties and we talk about twenty-five years worth of actual baggage to include combat and a challenging marriage and children and experience that comes with life. It has helped me a lot. Plus my psychologist is a late fifties-something year old woman who has also seen a thing or two in life. She's a clinical psychologist too, not a social worker who just sits there nodding and telling me "that sounds hard". She tells me when she thinks I'm being a pussy and when she thinks I'm being a dickhead.

A seventeen to twenty-two year old seeing a therapist is more likely just being convinced that her relatively problem free life is terrible and trauma filled (most likely being told this by some female therapist with only one or two more years life experience than her). This is not conducive to building a stronger and more resilient society of young adults. Just the opposite, really.

Good times create weak men

That is our current stage in the cycle.

Society has lost its structure, religion, and purpose. It was by design, and will take a disaster to reset IMO

This is what I was leaning towards, every teen with a TikTok account claims to have PTSD and severe anxiety (yes this is a broad generalization) with both being self-diagnosed leading them to using it as an excuse at every obstacle thus allowing it to define themselves.

There are definitely some great therapists but there are also some not-so-great therapists with the former most likely not accepting most insurance carriers since they pay like shite.

No one knew what effects the jab would have on you developing kids. Wouldn’t be shocked if there was a connection

I am not so sure about this. I was never the best at letting people know how appreciative I am of their work. I have definitely become better at letting people know how grateful I am and better at recognizing good workers.
