Your first thought upon seeing Swindon's 'magic roundabout' might be: man, the Brits have really lost the plot lately. But this thing—which is actually seven roundabouts in one—has been working for 60 years.

Yeah many in LA can’t do one much less more. Sounds like accidents and robberies waiting to happen.

We have 42 of them in Bend. I like them, but 42 seems a little much for a town this size.

We had them in Wisconsin, they're fantastic provided that you know how to use them. Watched an old lady drive straight through the middle on one of them but thankfully no one else was around.

Shreveport can't treat a non-functioning red light like a 4 way stop. No way in hell they'd negotiate that.

I've never tackled a seven lane roundabout but I have navigated this one in Canberra.

CIRCLE OF STRIFE: We live next to Britain’s ‘most hated’ roundabout – it was designed by a madman and no one knows how to use it

Residents who live near the Magic Roundabout in Wiltshire claim that it's a dangerous and confusing obstacle, and that accidents are rife.

"What a mess this is. All my anger about the English roundabout is coming out. The person who designed this roundabout must have had clinical insanity."

"English people in general don’t know the rules of roundabouts. If you don’t know the rules of one, you should never put five together."

Many residents blame "idiots" and people who "don't know how to use it" for the accidents that happen, making it dangerous.

In 2007, the roundabout was voted the seventh most feared road junction in the UK in a survey by the Highway Agency.

Been wanting to ask this. This is the roundabout next to Womans Hospital. Is D a legal maneuver and if so what right of way does it have? Keep in mind the configuration on the opposite side is different from this side.

Yes D is legal. It has the right of way over A and B.

I don't understand the need for multiple circles or even multiple lanes in one circle.

The first time I went to Barbados, I wasn’t 6 miles from the airport when I encountered a double lane roundabout where two highways intersected. I was just getting used to driving on the left side of the road when I came up on that surprise. It wasn’t bad just had to quickly reverse my driving to go left instead of right and adapt to changing lanes while in the circle itself to catch my exit point.

By day 2 I was a pro and cussing at and calling all of the other tourists idiots.
