I don’t need to do anything better - this case has nothing to do with me, I’m just making conversation by asking questions.

People are unreliable. It could’ve been his brother launching the boat for all we know. What he told his girlfriend is suspicious and his actions when he was found were suspicious. He could’ve hired those burglars to abduct her. We have no idea. There are a lot of holes in this case.

I am not saying he didn't do it. In fact, I think he did. The problem is, he got the death penalty because he was a slime ball that cheated on his pregnant wife, the sweet adorable girl next door. All her friends loved her, she was going to be the best mother, etc etc. All emotional arguments that have nothing to do with whether or not he killed her, or if someone else did. Did he do it? Probably. Was he convicted in the court of public opinion over concrete evidence? Absolutely.

You are so far behind it’s ridiculous. Everything you are saying can be explained away and has been for a while.

What? Do you know how murder investigations work? At the very least there is reasonable doubt. End of discussion

so not impossible - some research I did said Scott said he left at 9:30 to go to the marina, his cell phone pings him as leaving their neighborhood around 10, the dog was put in their backyard by a neighbor around 10:15

So he could’ve abducted Laci himself

ok … I said I didn’t watch the new documentary

I haven’t thought about this case in years - I followed it closely in 2002/2003 because I was pregnant with my first child at the time also and I felt sorry for Laci

I have a hard time believing there’s ‘new’ evidence because he was acting pretty suspicious when he was arrested. Anything can be faked or forged or newly remembered after almost 25 years.

Did he have a mistrial - maybe - but that doesn’t mean he’s innocent.

Then they should be able to find at least one shred of evidence since they claim he moved her body all over the place. He cooperated from day 1 and got burned for it

There’s tons of evidence. You’re looking for CSI proof, which usually only exists on CSI.

You’re never going to get 100% proof. But at the end of the day, Scott is as innocent as OJ is.

The Innocence Project has nothing to do with his case:

I think this s a good summation. Its that he was tried in public opinion pushed by press to make him a bad guy from day 1. And the prosecutors were negligent in passing anything to defense that might hurt them getting a conviction. Even the notes taken by lead investigator in first 2 days were destroyed.

I expected maybe a few iffy finds by the innocence project but was stunned at so many finds. The problem is he would never get a fair second trial because all the key evidence is gone and the witnesses are 23 years older, which memories fade over time. It needed to happen then and so he’ll never get one. And he’ll stay in jail regardless.

I keep an open mind when credible information is presented. The prosecutor has a sketchy history. And once they fixated on him at start of day 1, they never looked at any other option. They never fully explored witnesses.

I will give a knock to defense. They could have called those witnesses and didn’t. They thought they had proven reasonable doubt. Big mistake.

Another point is trying to use baby weight at time of death. They brought in one lady to testify on how old the baby was at time of death to use trying to pin death timing to 24 Dec. She said the time would range from 23 Dec to mid-Jan and it was impossible to pin a date due to so many variables in last trimester. So prosecutors 4 days later found another man who would say it was 23-24 Dec. That was a dagger. And yet it is very flawed.

Another was using only wind to determine how body got from where he took boat out to where it washed up. Flawed again. Using modern tech the and old current and wind data the body would not have washed up where found.

So many things and with more modern tech you get different results.

He still likely did it but I had no idea how bad the case was and how corrupted the prosecutor was.

The LA Innocence Project does and they partnered with top end post conviction lawyers and the CFSI. They do the exact same thing and have to separate entities for funding purposes

doesn’t mean it’s not made up or fabricated

The judge that denied a new hearing says it’s nothing new - just ‘rebranded or repackaged’ and Laci’s mom said there’s nothing new

I never said it was - if the prosecution didn’t do a good job then what does it matter what their theory is?

Their theory is he killed her at home, cell phone pings him leaving the neighborhood at 10 (although he says he left at 9:30), some witnesses saw her walking the dog before 10, the neighbor supposedly put the dog in their backyard at 10:15ish -their theory is still possible

Huh, What’s made up? These are witness statements the Modesto PD got and never followed up on any of them. Just stop commenting if you haven’t watched the latest

Are you serious? That’s their argument lol. If not then theres reasonable doubt. What are you not getting?

Not all of them - some of the ‘statements’ are new - this is from the LA innocence project website:
quote:

the willingness and courage of the witnesses who continue to come forward with information shedding light on what really happened

The website also says this:
quote:

the bodies were most likely put into the water off the Albany Bulb

I don’t think that proves he’s innocent - those places are only a few miles apart

why? Who the hell are you to tell me whether or not to comment on a message board? I haven’t seen the new documentary but there are articles about it and some of the info is in the LA innocence project website

I'm a big fan of the Innocence Project. I can barely imagine the abject fear and frustration of being falsely imprisoned.

But ... I also believe Scott killed his pregnant wife and dumped her body, including his unborn child, into the water, so in the absence of persuasive evidence to the contrary, he's going to have to do the time.

no - this is from the Modesto newspaper
quote:

Officers located people who said they saw her in the park about 10 a.m. Karen Servas, a neighbor, said she spotted the Petersons' golden retriever about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, his leash attached and muddy. Servas said she returned the dog to its yard, not realizing there might be something amiss. Read more at: LINK

Servas later testifies she put the dog in the backyard around 10:18 - whether or not she’s coached to say that - we have no idea

Here is the info about the cell phone:
Cell phone

So that’s where I got my info from, among other sources that you can easily find yourself.
