If they did that, we would all eventually die of cancer.

So this is how the zombie apocalypse starts.

Whatevz. I'll take a little cancer if it means I can go to Mars one day.

Not to mention every country would be looking at fiscal doom
Or just set the new retirement age at 80

if you continue to age and just not die, that would suck anyway

No, No, No. We are doing way too much to keep stupid people alive. We don't need to keep them alive even longer.
Take off all warning labels and let nature take it's course.

this is the beginning of my novel plot
they figure some stuff out like this, and governments of the world try to kill the scientist because they know how it would lead to overpopulation, scarcity of resources, and global conflicts

Pretty impressive study. Uses common genes conserved through evolution, so these same genes are present in similar forms in humans. The effect of blocking this gene's expression results in reduced physical aging and extended life period
In a nutshell, we have these same genes, and turning them off causes these organisms to live longer and age at a slower rate. So at a 25% reduced rate, you could look and feel like you're 60 at age 80

What if we make it to where only people with an IQ above 120 are eligible for it?

You think baby boomers not retiring is a problem right now?

Think mine's somewhere between 120 and 125. I also have no idea how to change my own oil so we need to keep some good ol baws around

Some of the assclowns don't deserve to be alive today much less get an additional 25%.

Wouldn't this also slow how quickly you develop or does that gene only control cellular degeneration? i.e. feeling/acting 15 at 20?

Keith Richards has known about this since 1975.

Future NYT headline: "Gene modification causes cancer".

We may not want to mess with that
