A staff member at a residential therapeutic school in Massachusetts has died after she was kicked in the chest by a student.

The alleged incident occurred on Wednesday night when Amy Morrell, 53, was working with fellow staff members to restrain a 14-year-old student at Meadowridge Academy in Swansea who attempted to leave her dorm building without permission, authorities said.

Morrell collapsed after being kicked in the chest by the student, authorities told CBS Boston. Staff then started CPR and called 911. Morrell was taken to the hospital overnight and pronounced dead on Thursday afternoon. The student’s name has not been released, but she is now facing charges, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office told CBS Boston.

"Based upon the initial investigation the juvenile was charged with Assault and Battery causing Serious Bodily Injury and was arraigned this morning in the Fall River Juvenile Court," the district attorney's office said on Thursday.

Sounds very much like the homicide completed after arraignment.

Yea, I'm tired of trying to fix people. Start holding the people with "problems" accountable.

A residential therapeutic school is a structured environment where students live on campus to receive both a formal education and specialized mental health treatment for emotional and behavioral issues. These schools combine academics with therapeutic services like individual, group, and family therapy, helping students with conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other challenges to succeed both in school and in life

Takes all of 10 seconds, slick. Give it a try.

The only ones with rights are the ones abusing staff and other students. The victims have no rights. It’s all upside down.

They really get creative when it comes to charging “those people” don’t they? How can they ever be held accountable for their actions when the legal system woefully undercharges them hoping to get the most lenient sentence possible

I’ve heard that police sometimes start with a charge that is a slam dunk, then come with more charges later.
