Also don't understand why the feds aren't releasing the additional video footage that Kash said they have if they truly believe she is alive. Time is of the essence.
Now if they believe she is deceased, I can understand putting this out and getting as long of a runway as can and if it goes cold you drop the others to get momentum again.

Yes. I think the feds believe she is likely dead and the ransom crap is probbaly being done by opportinists.
To me, the most logical explanation here is murder for inheritance. This isnt a robbery gone wrong. Nothing of value was taken. No need to kill a old woman who is no threat to stop you if you want to steal her shite.

Here's my totally uneducated guess on this.
The data from the camera is still sent to the provider and processed on their end. If you have a subscription it saves the file in your account. If you don't have a subscription it erases/overwrites after a certain period of time.
I know that with PCs, at least under Windows, when you delete a file, all that is really done at that time is the name/location of the file is removed from the file allocation table. The raw data stays until those specific bits of data are overwritten - could be hours, days, even weeks later depending on how much you save.
I am guessing that the FBI had people go in and forensically analyze the drives that hold the processed data that hadn't yet been overwritten and they were able to retrieve it.
