Trying to return to the missing woman and the status of the investigation:
somehow they got photos from her front entry with a heavily disguised person taking the door camera. In the background, a vehicle with round head lights. In the foreground a person with a gun, gloves hidin g hands, a ski mask and a large backpack.
The floor is a tiled floor, easily measured to get an idea of the persons size.

They haven't released anything with a vehicle in the background. There's no car in the drive in the video they have released.
Which means he either left and brought a vehicle up to take her away or there was a second person there waiting to pull in for a getaway.

Many people think that GPS needs a cell or internet connection to get your location. (Side note: Going on a hike or similar everyone should take advantage of phone and watches ability to pre-download offline maps onto both of them).
If you don’t want your location known you have to leave your phone behind. I doubt even turning off location along with putting it in airplane mode will stop something about location from still being recorded on phone. Turning off location shuts gps down for apps, but I am not sure if the actual chip shuts down stopping all reporting on temporary system logs of the phone.
Even turning phone off while with you risks you accidentally pushing a button that powers it up without you even realizing it. The NFC chip can operate on reserve power if you happened to get close enough for an express card or student ID reader to register a respective card stored in phone’s wallet. You would have to have phone right on them, but if you are committing a crime why risk it.

Could it have been a side by side or other type of off road vehicle to enter the property from the rear area which is desert /brush and not navigable by car?
