Off the force does not seem to be appropriate punishment for this one... depending on the extenuating circumstances.

Are these cops not taught hand to hand combat and takedowns anymore at the academy?

My dad and my uncle were both police officers and they would sometimes have a wrestling match after a few beers and both of them looked like damn Judo fighters with the throws and shite they knew how to do.

Another case of the cop being judge, jury and executioner.

Except LEO are only supposed to respond with lethal force to a reasonable threat.

Is a man walking toward you with his hands up a reasonable threat?

No but he would be alive if he did what he was asked to do.

Ok, but why does that excuse the officers actions?

That was totally justified in my opinion. He kept approaching the cops. That was suicide by cop if I have ever seen one.

How? No gun. Cop could have just pistol whipped him and got the job done.

Police are going to be why this American experiment will end within 50 years. Police like this anyway.

Yep. This is how police in third world countries act.

And those claiming "comply or die" are the mopes that will be led off to the re-education camps without a whimper, wondering where everything went wrong.

I'm as back the blue as they come and believe this shooting is seriously screwed up. No way that cop feared for his life. He was just pissed the dude wasn't responding to his demands.

It doesn't, it just keeps you from being dead.

Video shows Sanchez setting his gun down and putting his hands up as he walked toward officers. As he did so, at least one of the two officers shouted at him to stop. McBride said Sanchez didn’t stop, and Gaddie shot him. The shooting is under review by prosecutors to determine if a crime was committed.

I figured the cop wasn't by himself. Makes it even worse.

And yet here we are over a year later and it is "under review" by prosecutors.

They'll let it fall off the radar and quietly let him off.

So are some people who wouldn't give up their money in a robbery, does that mean there was no criminal act?

He is stupid and a fool. He got what he deserved.
People should respect the law.
If idiots like this don't show more respect for the police, why should they endanger themselves by "respecting" him?

If I am a cop, my number priority is going home to see my family every day. Whatever it takes.

Speaking of laws...

The legal standard for "following the law" is for officers to respond with lethal force when faced with a reasonable fear of their life.

You think that happened here?

So why aren't you upset that the officer literally murdered someone for no reason?
