Another idiot dies. If I was ever dumb enough to get myself in that situation I put my hands up and go to my knees. It’s not that hard.

Hands up doesn’t mean anything if he is approaching fairly quickly in a threatening manner and ignoring police telling him to stop or get down. Putting down gun doesn’t mean threat over. Looked like he was moving towards & threatening cops. Even if cops should have switched to something less lethal the guy didn’t give them much time.
Perp was stupid and aggressively moving towards cops and outside of putting gun doing the exact opposite police were saying. It’s not like that exterminator with rat gun staying in a hotel for work who put gun down or didn’t have it when he came out of hotel room when ordered by police, laid down on hallway floor when ordered, and still got shot & killed.

You think the cop should wait until the dude took yet another step towards him while defying commands to shoot. Maybe they coulda rolled around a bit then both end up dead?

It's a bad look but there's arguments for both sides on this one.
I don't have the full context here. But he could have been surrendering for real and just not following/hearing/given instructions or he could have just been walking up to start a fight with the cops at close range.
