Frankly, it’s stupid. All I need is a fridge that
1. Keeps things cold
2. Keeps other things frozen
3. Dispenses cold water
4. Dispenses ice
Do you even need 3 and 4.

So you buy an appliance that then tries to sell you shite?

The Frigidaire side by side is that if not very close. I've had mine since 1998.
You can still buy the exact same model which has not changed much in 25+ years.
I have a 2007. Replaced ice maker twice, water inlet solenoid twice, defrost timer once, hinges once and a couple of door shelves. All without a repairman. A very simple machine.
Fyi, at Lowes, the exact replacement ice maker can be bought as a kit for new refrigerators that didn't come with a factory installed maker. Just disregard the tubing, valve and collector bucket. The last one I bought was $50 in 2018. They are now $100.

I have a 1993 Subzero Fridge someone dumped bc the Freezer Fan went out.
I have had that thing for 12 years.
Im scared to leave it, I love it. I dont want to buy anything made after 1997

I got married in 1974. First refrigerator was a GE and yes it was that ugly arse green. Replaced it in 2000 with another GE. Decided to use stimulus money to buy another in 2022. Read the reviews, saw that Samsung was crap, decided to splurge and bought a Bosch with stimulus money in 2022. Moved the older GE to the garage. That Bosch is amazing, well worth the money.

Samsung confirms its $1,800+ fridges will start showing you ads

They make money from ads even though your ice maker breaks in the first 6 months. What a deal!

Give it to me for free and you can play all the ads you want.

I bought one similar to this GE in January of 1997 from some appliance store at Airline and Florida Blvd.
It still keeps the milk cold and water and ice come out of the door.

Their bespoke fridges are not

Who here is naive enough to think they didn't have this plan in place before they ever sold the fridges?

Thank God my Samsung washer and dryer only sings tunes when they are done their cycles.
But I've been warned....don't buy anything other than a TV that has a screen.

All good except the ice has to be scooped out of the bin as the through the door mechanism was not worth replacing. Water works fine.
