Best meat department available near me.
We only get very specific things there....boxed wine, water, meat, protein shakes.
If you're a first time member, there are sign-on deals to be had that basically cover the cost of joining.

The biggest problem with Sam's is that it has turned into Wal-Mart. It used to be a nice place but now the same weirdos that go to WMT now go to Sam's.
I like buying the large boxes of kcups there.
We don't have Costco in NELA and never will. If anything we should see Sam's close. There's no economy left here and there's no reason for us to have the stores we have.
The following should close:
Best Buy
Home Depot
Target
Kohls
Pecanland Mall
Bed Bath and Beyond
Lowes

Thanks to this thread I got a free Sam's card this week. Googled the $45 gift card deal. Went to the one in Denham. It wasn't bad. I don't see myself ever going to the one on siegen even though Denham is a little farther. That place looks like a clusterfrick every time I pass it.

Interesting. But still odd bump after almost a month...

The first time you go be prepared to spend $600.

The parking lot is, but once you're inside it feels empty. Definitely has the edge over Costco in terms of not having to literally deal with buggy traffic in store. It feels like you're walking into a warehouse when you walk into Sam's. Scan and go is awesome, and I found that a lot of normal grocery items such as produce were cheaper at Sam's.
Costco is still nicer, cleaner, and Kirkland is better than Member's Mark for a lot of items.
Sam's has the edge on meat.
We got the $45 with $45 off for Sam's. Will probably keep both. Sam's coffee selection is terrible with the only whole bean option being Starbucks. But they have the Healthy Choice Fudge Ice Cream bars and Sugar Free BodyArmor drinks which I can't find at Costco.

It’s like Costco but staffed with Walmart employees.

I go to Sams only once or twice a year. Bought a mattress there last year. Bought a whole tenderloin there last week. I bought golf cart batteries there back in the summer. The main reason I bought any of those things were because Sams had them in stock and I didn't want to drive around looking for the items at other stores.
I find that the prices are not good enough to justify the hassle and that we spend more at Sams than we do at a regular grocery store.
It is more and more just a grocery store. My company had a membership there back in the day when we used a lot more paper than we do now and we have maintained the membership so employees can use it. If we ever stop paying for it I doubt I will spend the money for a personal membership.

I tried the scan n go. Scanned all my crap then when I went to pay using my Visa debit card it said I had to go to a register. Used a self check out and scanned a barcode in the scan n go app and then everything I had instantly pulled up on the register screen and I was able to pay there, with the same Visa debit card. Line at the service desk was too long to wait and ask wtf happened. Can you not use a Visa debit to pay through scan n go? I get you can't enter a pin but will it not run through as a Visa credit?

That is why I have both. Sam's carries my laundry detergent and Costco doesn't. Costco carries some foods I like that Sam's doesn't.

Me too
Costco is closer - so I go every few days for bread and milk - but Sam’s has more stuff my kids will eat
They’re just not into dried mango strips and crunchy mushrooms - although Costco’s produce is usually better, and there are plenty of frozen items at Costco that everyone enjoys

We buy, or have bought Charmin Toilet paper, bottled water, canned chicken breast, Gatorade Zero, butter, frozen chicken, heavy cream, Hormel precooked bacon, Sam's clothes washing pods and fabric softener, ground beef, pork chops, Brisket, NY Strip Steaks, Chuck roast, Lawry's garlic salt, Black Pepper, 5 pound bags of chocolate chips, Lettuce, Avocadoes, Big arse Baking Potatoes (a size, not a brand), Canned Hormel Chili, Rotisserie Chicken, frozen fish portions, Fish sticks, Snack Bar Hotdogs and diet drink, Ibuprofen, Protein shakes, Deluxe Planter's Mixed Nuts, Chocolate covered rains, Big bags of chips, 3-5 Eddie Bauer T-shirts a year for me, two packs of white socks several years back, Thousands of gallons of Sam's gasoline, Michelin Tires, a camera, a generator, several garage shelving units, Big #10 cans of vegetables when we cook for the Homeless shelter guys. We bought a single bed mattress and box springs at a good price for someone who needed one one time.
We also have also impulse purchased many other things we didn't need when we bought them.
Their snack bar makes a killer chocolate frozen yogurt too.
Have friends in Meridian where the husband takes his wife to Sam's Every Wednesday night for a Hotdog, chips and soft drink evening out dining experience. Costs him abut $5.00 for the two meals. He sees it as a good to treat his sweetie like a princess.
We don't have a Costco card. I see that as a good thing. I don't really need another reason to spend money to stick stuff in the cabinet or pantry.
We have a Sam's Mastercard and get about $300 - $500 dollars a year back on it as a rebate for using it. We charge nearly 100% of the stuff we buy on it and pay it off every month. Never carry more then $50.00 cash unless we are traveling.
Oh, the booze in the Madison, MS store is cheaper than the liquor store at the Delta exit on I-20 across the Vicksburg Bridge in Louisiana. But the Delta exit folks are a lot nicer.

I’ve been a member of Sam’s for years and do not have a Costco near by, I’ve heard many times how Costco is way better and nicer. I ended up getting a Costco membership because they had a sale on an item I wanted so I went to Costco for the first time like a month ago
And
It looks just like Sam’s club. I was expecting this luxurious place that people had been raving about
And
It looks just like Sam’s club. I did find some really nice tri tip at Costco that’s hard to find anywhere around here. I also bought a prime brisket because I heard they were better than Sam’s brisket although Sam’s also carries prime. The biggest plus to me is the prices on meat. A prime brisket is half the price of a choice brisket at rouses.

Jay, don't drown yourself in the gravy from rays pege...I am sure the buck commander place is saving your economy.

They both have good meats
For some reason a lot of people prefer Costco

It doesn't deserve to be saved. The old money here has deliberately kept progress out of the area.
