How far from the coast are you? Are in an area that could take on storm surge?
We’re wayyyy off the coast. I’m guessing it was a limb on a power line or something.

Looks to be going East now?? What are the chances it does something crazy and looping south and then nw again?

I’m just really worried that the AL Coast could end up in the northern eyewall for 8-10 hours. Even for a cat 1, that’s 60+mph sustained winds.

Why do you get so upset in these threads.
I'm not upset. I actually smiled typing that. Your desire to be a contrarian in these threads has you willing to defend the pump system in New Orleans. That's impressive.

Tell me what I said was incorrect?
Everyone in SELA knows the rules in New Orleans - 1" of rain in the first hour and half an inch every hour after that - and even that is veryyyy optimistic.
Lastly, the 5 day total is what the NHC offers as part of their graphic package. There are 24 hour projections available from the WPC.
Zoom in and you'll see the pink. Also, if they're calling for 20", you can usually bet your arse the local totals will be even higher.

Sounds like you could work for the NHC.

Both my cameras, MM 3 in Ft Morgan on the oyster farm and on West Beach at 13th Street are offline so I’m assuming power is out at both locations. I’ll be booted up at dawn to assess damages.

Does anyone know if there is a possibility this storm could ever pick up speed as it moves more inland? Anything quicker than 2 mph?

Fort Morgan Rd out by the Dollar General has had about 9" already today. At an inch an hour they will be at 12" by midnight.
Do you have any link to this? Appreciate it.

Falling pressure doesn’t necessarily mean increased winds right?
It could just mean that wind speed isn’t dropping.

It should pick up speed, but it won't be until around noon or so tomorrow.

What's the story on that boat?
It's the human interest stories that make TD hurricane threads elite.
Status unknown, but my gf and her mom are already accepting that its gone. I am trying to give them hope, but it ain't looking good I reckon.

TS force sustained winds are just getting to the city and inland across the bay.
Coast Guard Station NOAA guage just hit 39 mph sustained gusting to 51.
There is much more to come. If power is starting to go out with 50 mph gusts, it won't be long for most of the rest of the area.

Yeah, there is a personal weather station out there that I follow and it has been offline since 4:45pm meaning power or internet went out then. I hope the Ft. Morgan area fares well. My family and I vacation out there every year and love it.

No one believes that. That’s been proven to be inaccurate by a number of engineers. That is just a rule of thumb and talking points they use. The only way the pumps can pump at that capacity is if every pump is online pumping at full capacity and that will never happen because it’s impossible
