Is this guy a Texan?

Mother frickers at BB’s in Houston put BBQ sauce in the boil.

Heathens.

I've never understood the need for this. Like others have said, the simple boil recipe has been great for a looooong time. People try too hard.

Yep, sometimes I think people add stuff so they can talk about "their recipe" to other folks. I keep it simple with my crawfish and they're always great.

Crawfish if fast becoming the new brisket. It is EASY to make good crawfish if you keep it simple and get the actual boil right. fricking around with bullshite is how you ruin 150$ worth of food.

no

I would be open to adding some vinegar to the boil itself, and maybe later brushing some olive oil to the corn and potatoes once they're out on the table

Oh for fricks sakes. Too trying to change crawfish. You don’t need all this stupid shite in the boil. You don’t need 28 seasonings. A bag of crab boil seasoning was invented to season a boil. Add a little bit of this and that of you want, but why do you idiots keep adding 100 different things????

At the end of the season when the Crawfish are hard, any kind of oil in the boil helps soften the shell. It doesn’t take much. Anything else that comes with the oil is a bonus I guess.

I guess there’s always something we’re been missing the last hundred years. Pretty soon we’ll just quit putting crawfish in the boil.

I don't even like sausage in a boil.

Peeling greasy crawfish sucks.

AARP baws
My 86 year-old F-I-L shops for groceries at 7:00am every Wednesday morning.

He was an engineer so he’d probably have done something similar (schedule-wise) 50 years ago except then his now passed wife did all the shopping.

Good sausage is just enough oil to facilitate peeling. And it’s so delicious.
Butter or salad dressing….no way

The best gumbo I ever ate didn't have a whole lot of ingredients, and that's some solid cooking advice.

I tried hotdog instead of sausage for the oil issue and I’ll be damned if I can’t stop eating those hotdogs and get so full I can hardly eat Crawfish so I stopped cooking them.
