re: Sad moment on Jeopardy

People from Missouri pronounce their own state as "missourah".

So, what is acceptable to say if that state is a Jeopardy question?

Depending on his exact phrase, that is kind of messed up. Words like that can have different pronunciation with the same spelling, and as you say, it is foreign so you can't even use the domestic variant as the reason.

But in French it is said ah-sheel

There is such a thing as TOO nitpicky.

He’s “white and nerdy”

And that ruling is crap...

Apparently in the same category, an earlier response from another contestant was "Will I Am I am Legend" and they accepted that when a true before and after response is "Will I am Legend".

Imagine if the roles were reversed... would you hear Alex explaining to a black woman” I’m sorry, you said errange but the right word was orange, we have to take that money back”
