Are you really trying to say it's impossible to tell the story of the first human on the moon without the flag planting? Is it really that pivotal to the plot?

There’s a time and a season for everything, and truthfully, if this doesn’t offend you, there’s only one thing one can draw for it, and that’s that you take no pride in this country, because if you did, then trying to steal the glory from arguably one of our finest achievements would piss you the frick off, no question. But, since it doesn’t, I can only surmise that you don’t care about America.

I mean if it was so unimportant why did they even plant a flag? Why is the picture of it one of the most scene pictures from the moon landing? You can tell a story any way you want to but if you want it to be historically accurate it should be included.

Nazi party member [yes]
Recruited into the SS [yes]
Hanged the 5 slowest Jews in his factory? [hell no]

Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

Read Von Braun: Dreamer of Space, Engineer of War by Michael Neufeld to learn what he was really like.

I agree the scene should have been included due to it's iconic status over time.

However, my point is that it is given the same importance in the movie that Armstrong gave it in 1969. He thought the journey to the moon was, by far, the biggest achievement. He would have planted the UN flag had they agreed to go that route.

No mention of Armstrong saying One giant leap for mankind instead of One giant leap for Americans?

I don't think Neil would have a problem with this.

Substantiate that claim.

Explain what you mean by "full fledged Nazi." Are you suggesting he was an ideological fanatic? What evidence do you have that would support that assertion?

His rocket program was run with slave labor, as was the policy of the Nazi state during the war. Do you think von Braun made the decision on how to allocate labor in late war Germany? Have you heard of Hans Kammler? Do you think von Braun had more say than him in respect to the labor procurement for the V-2's?

He wouldn't.

I'm sure the decision to omit the flag planting had ulterior motives, but it's also hard to argue that Armstrong would have viewed it any other way.

That’s really shitty IMO.

That is such an iconic part of history.

Yes.

It can't be said enough- because it's the factual truth.

Ask the average high school kid to give you the name of the first man on the moon- without Googling it- and tell us what they say.

Don’t really frickin care. This is as bad as getting offended by the other 10,000 bullshite non issues people invent these days.

It can be considered shitty and still not offend you. We don’t have to like the decision.

I’m like 99.27645% sure the moon landing was exactly the opposite and was the USA’s way of flipping the bird to the Soviet Union.

Not sure how reliable he is, but Joe Rogan’s podcast is where I heard it: LINK

If you are a member of the SS and Jews are hanging outside of your factory, then I’m not going to give you the benefit of the doubt. It’s one thing to be a member of the Nazi Party, but another to be a member of the SS. Those people were all in on the Nazi ideology.

I guess I'll be curious how obvious the omission is. If its blatant then that will annoy me. My guess is that they didnt think about including it for whatever reasons or the ramifications for not including it.
