I can't wait for the Olympics to drop national identity so that everyone can feel like a winner when the black man from the African continent wins the cross country events. FEELS GOOD MAN.

and if i made a movie on that entire story and left that part out, the media and left would absolutely lose their shite

It's one of the most patriotic moments in American history.
I’m as MAGA as anyone but as I stated in the PT thread, it’s probably not about the American achievement, but the personal human struggle and overcome it.
If you’ve seen Damien Chazelle’s other films it’s exactly this... human struggles and relationships with others. If he builds up the film to land on the moon, have them explore for some time, then stake the flag before leaving, that just takes the wind out of the sails of what he’s likely trying to accomplish with this film. The focus is on Neil and the struggles he had to go through on a human level with his family, watching his friends die doing it, etc.
Besides there are clearly flags displayed in the trailer.

There’s a time and a season for everything, and truthfully, if this doesn’t offend you, there’s only one thing one can draw for it, and that’s that you take no pride in this country, because if you did, then trying to steal the glory from arguably one of our finest achievements would piss you the frick off, no question. But, since it doesn’t, I can only surmise that you don’t care about America. Or, you care more about your perceptions of yourself than you do it.
Being offended at silly childish bullshite at every corner is not even remotely the same as being offended at someone trying to frick your country out of the glory it richly deserves in putting a man on another celestial body than earth.

No- but undoubtedly "NOT First Man" will be featured online, in no time.

What is? The moon event was a hugely American moment. You can focus on the "personal struggle" moments without purposefully omitting the meaning to the U.S., which was huge.
The first person to greet the moon landers after the mission was the fricking POTUS .

I wouldn’t expect a Canadian to understand.

He's also a Canadian so Gosling can suck a fat one.

And they cant do that without omitting the flags and U.S. representation in the event?
If they had to go out of their way to remove it then it's clear they have an agenda.

That I would buy. It was never about Neil and I think he would have been the first to say that.
Well, he didn’t stick a portrait of himself on the moon. He stuck the flag representing the USA.

I doubt Gosling would have taken the "Global" route had the winners of the moon race been from anywhere else but America.

I don't care about Gosling's comments, he's just trying to spin a call that probably wasn't his.
Of course the decision not to include that scene is ridiculous.

Exactly, and putting the first man into orbit was not an American achievement or a world achievement, but an achievement by the Soviets. That’s just called being honest and truthful.

Yeah, this was a "global achievement"-- as if the Soviets called it a "global achievement" when they launched Sputnik first, or when Yuri Gargarin became the first man in space.
No, Moscow and other cities in the USSR held mass celebrations, the scale of which was second only to the World War II Victory Parade of 1945. April 12, the date of Gargarin becoming the 1st man in space, was declared Cosmonautics Day in the USSR, and is still celebrated today in Russia as one of the official "Commemorative Dates of Russia"
