A nuclear-powered underwater drone capable of destroying enemy naval bases and causing huge tsunamis is under construction in Russia, according to a state news agency. The Poseidon will be able to carry a nuclear warhead with a capacity of up to two megatonnes, a source told TASS. The source said: "It will be possible to mount various nuclear charges on the ‘torpedo’ of the Poseidon multipurpose seaborne system, with the thermonuclear single warhead... to have the maximum capacity of up to 2 megatonnes in TNT equivalent."

By the way, this is what a underwater nuclear detonation looks like.

Well to be honest, this thing is a glorified torpedo. And nuclear torpedos have been around since the 50s or 60s I do beleive.

The Russians (and the US) have had nuclear torpedoes since the 1950's.

I don’t think it’s nuclear powered, unless I misread the article. It’s armed with a nuclear warhead which is not the same thing. And it can also be armed with a conventional warhead as well.

Lol there's no way this thing has a nuclear powered engine, there's no reason for that. Unless they are launching it from Russia to go underwater the entire way across the Atlantic.

Yeah. I think he misread the article or he doesn’t know the difference between somwthing being nuclear powered or nuclear armed.
