I mean shite we took the nuke research from Britain. Said oooo, then this is ours now, and then instead of funding just one method, said frick it both.
A shitload of our WW2 tech was freely given to us by the UK so they could exploit our manufacturing capabilities

If this is true, it’s not really that surprising. Eastern front was a bloodbath with no mercy being shown on either side

In the last 12 mos of WW2 too.

They also liberated 100% of the death camps.
If you ever hear an American say he or his father or grandfather liberated a death camp, they are lying. Americans only liberated work/labor camps. Russians did all the liberating of the death camps.

The Russians did not engage the Japanese until about 10 days before the Pacific war was over.
But, in the end, who cares?

A strategically brilliant move by the US. Try again.

Russia didn't declare war on Japan until the day the U.S. dropped the second atomic bomb on Japan.

Nazi losses were nothing compared to soviet losses.

The Eastern Front was hell on earth. Linengrad was under siege for over 3 years and half the city starved to death. And don’t even get me started on Stalingrad.

Around 10 million Soviet soldiers and civilians died too.

Battles of Khalkhin Gol
quote:
The Battles of Khalkhyn Gol were the decisive engagements of the undeclared Soviet–Japanese border conflicts fought among the Soviet Union, Mongolia, Japan and Manchukuo in 1939.
volunteer part of the Soviet Air Forces sent to support the Republic of China
quote:
By May, Soviet pilots had destroyed 625 enemy aircraft and damaged 150 military and civilian ships.[8] The Soviet squadrons were withdrawn after the non-aggression pact between the Soviet Union and Japan in 1941. As a result, the Chinese turned to the United States, which authorized the creation of the American Volunteer Group Flying Tigers.
They provided China with aid basically until Germany decided to invade Russia, which of course, Russia stopped supplying aid. The US was ramping up aid anyway.
Don't act like the Chinese didn't pull their weight either, as they were already fighting Japan during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Not only that, they were dealing with other issues and desperately trying to retain some semblance of government while also being in the middle of a civil war between red and white.
China brought ~14,000,000 men into the war and sustained ~3,200,000 causalities, all while sustaining roughly 17,000,000 civilian casualties.
The US? 3,600,000 men sustaining just under 500,000 casualties.
Not to take anything away from our service men, but China fought a different war (army vs. blue water) than we did against Japan.
