I feel you, brother. Nothing worse than messing up a cook for the family. You gonna be alright, bud.

Right. Learn how to adapt. You dried out the chicken a little? Alright kids we are having chicken quesadillas.

Word up. And the ribs are turning into a finely chopped Manwich night

I once cooked a brisket that was so dry, you could have struck a match on it.

I once cooked some ribs on the primo. I got the fire and temp where I wanted it and took a 30 minute nap. Turns out I left a small crease in the deflector plates and the rendered fat blew the fire up and caught the ribs. I woke up to a couple racks of ribs that looked like Thanos 86d them when you blew on them

Those chicken thighs will still be very good, they are very forgiving when the skin burns.

ribs on the primo

I went to a guys house one time and watched him wrap raw ribs in foil and “smoke” them. When tender he sauced them and served No one here has done worse than that.

That is pathetic. Not the food, things happen. But crying over it? What an emotional weakling.

Meh, I don’t agree. Maybe he spent a good chunk of what he had on this meal and wanted to get it right. Dads that work long hours don’t get many opportunities to do something special for the family. When everyone is hungry and you mess it up, that’s a feeling of failure for sure. I give him a pass.

Guy needs to get him some low quality, hard to cook cuts and get that practice in.

Looks like he had the grill too hot and cooked it too fast

Slower the better when it comes to BBQ

I gave up trying to do ribs about 10 years ago. I have a deep respect for a man that can cook the perfect rib.

Don’t give up. Good ribs are an investment in time. Remove the silver membrane on the back, smoke over indirect heat, wrap in foil to cook in the oven and then finish them on the grill with bbq with in direct heat. It takes about 6 hours to cook them properly.

People, especially women, often underestimate the incredible mental and emotional weight of trying to be a good man.

Yeah! I burned a couple hamburgers, grilling on the 4th. Told the family that was my effort for DEI. Got all colors from pink, brown, and black.

Hang in there man. I ruined many a brisket before I got it right. Fortunately briskets were $20-25 back then.

I cooked the PERFECT chicken quarters once. Just fricking beautiful and juicy. I accidentally used the wrong rub that was hot as frick making them pretty much inedible for everyone at the cookout

These chicken quarters were my fifth symphony. Crispy, colorful, just perfect. And I fricked it all up with a rub

It honestly had me jt a legit bad mood and I was short with everyone the rest of the day

I've witnessed several men ruining ribs by cooking them from raw over direct high heat on Weber type grills. I've seen people doing this pretty often at parks and beaches. But I've found it's better to let folks learn on their own as people can be pretty defensive about their cooking.

I have a feeling this guy will be studying a few recipes next time he spends a bunch of money on meat and he'll do much better next time. Money is a great motivator.

Once I had control of the coals most everything else worked itself out with some trial and error

Thermal pen helped immensely as well

I like to finish my smoked chicken/wings over direct heat to crisp up the skin and & give it some light charring as I sauce them
