1) Never ever order anything called, CAJUN, NEW ORLEANS STYLE. Anywhere 40miles north of I-10 or out of the state of Louisiana.

2) Never eat at a restaurant with MOM’s, AUNT’s, Granny’s in the name.

3) Never eat at a place that opens @ 11am and the parking lot is empty at 12:30pm.

3) if you stop to get Boudin/Crackin and there is a group of 5 or more boudin/crackin shops in a 1mile area go to the smallest one that looks the oldest.

4) If you go to a Smokehouses/BBQ place look for a place with a large parking lot.. places with bad food don’t need a lot of places to park.

5) Never eat crawfish at an Asian buffet..

6) You should probably avoid eating anything that is advertised as “World Famous”

Feel free to add..

Eat where you see old people eating.

Never eat where the main theme of the restaurant is some gimmick but not the food or service itself (ie throwing bread, line dancing waiters, etc)

This is fricking terrible advice. You've clearly never taken a long road trip.

Is this just for traveling around Louisiana?

Might be the worst advice in this list and that's saying something

This isn’t true at all. In fact, the opposite is probably more true.

If there are a bunch of trucks in the parking lot, you may want to give that restaurant a try.

Don't order BBQ items (ribs, brisket, pulled pork) if you can't see/smell a pit on the premises.

Archibalds has a smaller lot. And better sauce. (Had a sandwich Tuesday for lunch)

Number 1 is so so true. They dump cayenne pepper in it and call it cajun.

There’s a soul food place in Monroe called mommas that’s frickin gas. You’ll be the only white baw in there, but shits fire.

Bad advice is bad

Edit: this whole post seems like it comes from a guy that thinks traveling is driving from Livingston Parish to lake Charles or Alexandria for a travel ball tournament

I went to a place named Harry’s in Tallahassee with a group of people. Harry’s is a restaurant with “New Orleans food”. I ordered a salad. Food looked terrible

Just go online to a site like Reddit where you can find the locals discussing the truly best places to eat in that area. Last trip I found an incredible hole in the wall steakhouse that I’d never have found otherwise.
