Ruffled some feathers yesterday and church but I really feel like I did the right thing

Me and my family go to a pretty nice church and often times people give pretty sizable donations when they pass the basket around. A lot of the older folks prefer to put cash in there which causes there to be a lot of loose cash in the baskets. The same people are usually at every mass so it’s easy to tell when people that don’t belong are in there..
Long story short- There was an unfamiliar family in there yesterday and the kids look we’re shite heads. During the donations I could have swarm I saw him take some money out of the basket. I immediately got up and alerted one of the ushers to the situation. The kid was confronted and turns out he didn’t take anything or did a pretty good job of hiding it. I’ll go with the latter.. now the parents of the kid are pissed and my wife is severely embarrassed and wants me to apologize. Pretty tough spot

sounds like a pretty nice church. new people show up for the first time and get accused of stealing because they aren't "desirable" enough to belong in your church

You are exactly the reason why so many don't go to church. Hell yes you should apologize and send that family out to Sunday lunch on your tab.

You should tell us the name of the church, the date this happened, and the priest or pastor that was preaching that day.
