We throw parties on occasion and send invitations with an RSVP request by a certain date to assist in our planning.

It’s amazing how many people fail to RSVP. They either just show up or don’t come at all. RSVP means to respond on your intentions of coming or not.

Do any of you have this problem? We try to word the RSVP request on the invitation as tactfully as possible. If you are not coming, that’s fine. But we would like to know a head count for food and drink purposes.

Then maybe just say that. We don't all speak French.

I don't throw parties big enough for this to matter honestly (under 20 people). I just get enough food/drinks for the amount of people I invite. If they don't show, it's just extra for me.

Dude, is it really that important to RSVP for your backyard wrestling events? Just get another keg of Natty and an extra tub of cheese balls.

Have you ever considered that your RSVP request just adds to people's already long to-do lists? People are busy these days. Don't give them one more thing to do.

We only got back like 1/3 of all the RSVPs we sent out for our wedding. I can't complain though. I'm terrible at sending that shite back too.

You must have really large parties. I always have way more food and drink than is ever needed because I get carried away and excited.

Post a pic of a Pineapple in the invitation and they'll all show up.

I sent a text to the guy who invited us to a party saying we were coming. I didn’t mail back his stupid card. He had a confused look on his face when I showed up to the party. Come on man. Go look at your text messages.

Nobody is too busy for the one minute it takes to text or email the RSVP. That person needs to evaluate his life if he is too busy to spare one minute during a one month span.

I am hosting a wedding shower in a few weeks. Something like 50 invitations went out (couples shower) I did not even include a rsvp because I will have way too much food as I always do.

I am not talking about a backyard cookout. Invitations with RSVPs are tacky for those.

I am talking about wedding reception, wedding shower, etc.

This is how I operate. I'll let you know if we are coming or not, but your stupid little card and envelope are going straight to the trash.

Publicly embarrass them when they show up without responding. Don't let them eat or drink anything. Direct them to a garden hose you've gracefully provided for dogs and trash people like them.

So what if they never speak to you again? They didn't care about you enough to RSVP as you kindly asked when you thought to include them in your life, so don't include them any more.
