I heard a radio commercial this morning claiming that their king cakes "taste and smell like Mardi Gras". That might sound good to a tourist but anyone who has been to Mardi Gras for many years knows that a claim like that is not a positive one.

If you're going to spend the money on a King Cake, I don't know why anyone would not spend the money at a local business/donut shop like Meche's. They are ALL expensive as frick so why not support a local business?

Had family in from out of town 2 weeks ago. I bought one of the better KC's (IMO) in the Lafayette area - Keller's Amaretto Walnut. $65 for a large as it was worth maybe $25, probably cost them $10 to make. Never again at that inflated price.
