I don't know what Ronnie looked like before he started bodybuilding, but he probably had a good base to start from.

Steroids aren't worth it in the long run.

What really did him in was allowing the Dr. to go straight to major surgery and then he went right back to lifting heavy. Literally ripped the fusions from the vertebrae.

Its sad but the dude did it to himself.

doesn't feel sorry for himself

Ronnie has always had that charisma

or has any regrets.

He says this but I am sure he regrets going beyond what the human body was meant to do

I have since retired but I too am feeling the pain in the back, hips, and shoulders

I never did bodybuilding but I played college football. Started at tight end and then right tackle for 2 years. I’m about to turn 31, and I’m starting to feel that shite. Back and neck ache a lot. Fingers hurt from dislocations and jamming them from blocking. Knees, ankles. And that’s just from starting both sides of the ball in HS and 2 years in community college ball

I can’t imagine what SEC and NFL players feel like when their career is over and stop working out to maintain that physical shape

Ronnie’s current issues aren’t directly from AAS. Steroids can help your muscles grow, but not your tendons/ligaments.

He was a naturally gifted powerlifter in his high school days and carried some of that mindset over to bodybuilding. Problem is that extremely heavy weight for high reps is extremely taxing on the body. Steroids allowed him to recover and keep up with the pace, but his joints and all the other shite didn’t.

Ronnie is the king of bodybuilding. But he’s also, along with several other bodybuilders and powerlifters, a cautionary tale of what happens when both disciplines are divorced from health.

Is Ronnie Coleman the guy that's already had a heart transplant or am I thinking of some other strongman/bodybuilder?

While I’ve never met him, what I’ve seen of him on camera and in interviews shows a very positive and driven dude; the type of people you should surround yourself with.

Lol he isn’t like that because of Steroids. I swear some of you are mouth breathing basement dwellers.

He is like that because he overtrained himself with heavy arse weight and continued to do so after having surgery.

Amen.

I had surgery on my arm a couple of months ago. Compressed nerve in the forearm. Could've worked out some but I figured it gave me a chance to let my joints rest and heal because I pound them in the gym pretty hard week after week for years. Just started back this weekend.

Rest and healing is just as important as lifting.

Yes but the juice allowed him to put up that kind of weight, which lead to his injuries. Not the primary, but a contributing factor.

Our bodies aren’t meant to be taken to extremes. It’s the price you pay. He’s a great guy and I am sorry he is suffering.
