Doobie Bros were much better that night...
Greg fell asleep playing the piano.

Jagger delivered a better live performance 3 years ago (at whatever age he was) in Milwaukee than Bono delivered two years ago when I saw U2 in Chicago. Bono is a bloated fat frick who can't really move. He looks like a sausage.
Seeing the Stones today is at least as authentic an experience as seeing U2 today.

Mick and the Boys put on a hell of a show even at 72+. In case of a nuclear holocaust, two things will survive.....Cock roaches and Keith Richards!!!!!!

Saw them in 1981 at the dome with about 90K in Attendance. The Nevilles opened along with George Thurogood and the Destroyers.....great show
Saw them again in 1988.....from what I understand it was great show......got so wasted and blitzed that I don't remember anything except waking up the next morning....I was told I had a great time!!!!!!!
Have seen them 2X since......mostly sober.

So $200+ after fees?
I can understand a premium for that day... but $185 vs $75 seems... extremely high. Curious how many tickets they will sell.

hard to say because it's part of JF, but if it were a stand alone concert they'd probably come close to selling it out, and the prices would still more than likely be in that range

Daughter went at 8:30 to get in line for locals-only tickets. Gave up when she saw the line was wrapped around the Dome TWICE.

Wow. Glad I read this. Thought about driving in from out of town to try to get tickets. Thank god I didn’t

What the frick do you expect them to do? Travel back in time to the 1980s to see them live?
Yes. Yes I do. That's how I saw the Beatles

Me as well. Know whats funny? I talked to one of the guys that I went with a couple weeks ago.
Here we are in college-19, 20 years old. Mick and the boys are late 30s early 40s. We all agreed it was an incredible show (it was), but that these guys were just too damn old to be out there acting like kids.
Hmmmm. Almost 40 years later.

The first NOLA show was 1978, with opening acts Van Halen and the Doobie Brothers. This was the Some Girls tour, which featured a somewhat smaller, stripped down stage compared to the 1975 (warm-up shows played in the PMAC) and 1981 tours. At the time Van Halen was a new band out of Pasadena and went on to become one of the best, if not the single best, American hard rock band. That was quite a billing for one show.
The 1981 show in the Dome set the national attendance record for an indoor concert, which record stood for over 30 years. As others have mentioned, the Neville Brothers and George Thorogood opened. This was the tour in support of Tattoo You, which, although it was a smattering of new tracks and leftovers from the 1970s, was one of their best albums, in my opinion.
The Stones played the Dome twice more, in 1989 on the Steel Wheels tour and 1994 in support of Voodoo Lounge, which I think was the band's last great album.
Despite mentioning the City in many of their songs, it was remarkable that the Stones did not play NOLA until 1978, almost 15 years into their career. If you want a good read on the band, check out the book S.T.P., which chronicled the Stones famous 1972 tour. Although the band did not play NOLA on that tour, the book talks about how the band made a pit stop in the City to party one weekend.
