It's hard to say from looking at the photo, but the idiot on the hood very closely resembles an idiot we called Trunk Monkey in Iraq. I think he was from California though.
The stance is so a bullet will be allegedly stopped or slowed by your arm instead of your heart/chest. I know, I know; I'm simply repeating what I've heard a few times.

Last month, I made the mistake of honking my horn at a guy who was driving like a maniac. He forced me to stop and he was open carrying a pistol. He was extremely agitated but I was lucky - he let me off with a warning about excessive use of my horn and didn’t write me a ticket.

Most don’t realize it but gun laws are strict in Alabama. You can’t ride with a gun in your vehicle at all without a permit unless it’s in a case and unloaded.
