Hot girls play video games now.
There are no excuses.

I've also come to accept the fact that the only action I'm ever going to get with ladies is probably with VR porn, lol. Or pretending to have sex with anime characters, lol.
Probably better to accept it now.

Part of me just doesn't care about anything out in the real world anymore. There are some activities I used to like that I no longer enjoy.
This is normal, IMO. I also game a good amount and know exactly what you mean in terms of the escape to a fantasy world. I’ve got a group of 10-12 dudes on PS4 that I’ve never met before and I play a group of games with the guys.
I do have a gf and she freaks out anytime I bring up the nerdy side of myself, but I do believe that being yourself is the best way to live life. If you genuinely enjoy what you are doing then don’t sweat it.
Just be aware of other things in your life and don’t ignore your health, well being, etc.

Sounds like you’re actually depressed and should seek some professional help.

. In your 20s it's okay, even embraced, to not have a true purpose. But now a lot of things seem empty. Even traveling by myself has changed. I used to love solo trips but now there's an empty feeling knowing I have no one to share it with. I know I should try to resolve the fact that I have no purpose in life but again at this point why try?
You sound exactly like my posts in the divorce baw thread.

hey man - that was where i was 9 years ago, and I started playing WoW - met my now wife ingame, and we have been married for 6 years and together for 8.5 years.
not saying the same could work for you, but i found her not even looking for a relationship.

In all seriousness, you're only 36.. why are you accepting this as fact? If you lost weight and are looking better, put yourself out there. Use dating apps (to either meet someone with common interests or just get laid). There's plenty of decent looking girls on those apps that are into gaming and anime. Not telling you to give up your hobbies but you can't just resign yourself to being a recluse and accepting defeat.
I'm an introvert, I've never had much luck with women. And I'm sorry but I'm not cleaning up after someone else's baggage. I don't want to date a woman with kids and preferably not a woman who's divorced (though I could be swayed on the divorce thing).
I just don't see a lot of options in my area. It's either go really young (early to mid 20s) or deal with a woman who has been divorced and/or had kids or a woman I'm just not attracted to.
And again my generalized anxiety and my introverted nature are like flashing warning signs for women. At least it seems that way.

Why not both? I have a family and play casual gaming online. I wouldn’t totally immerse yourself into online gaming and completely shut down your dating scene. Unless of course you meet your wife on world of Warcraft

What do you think? If I'm not going to ever have a wife and family, why bother? I loved gaming back in the day and I've followed a fair amount of anime and sci-fi series into adulthood. Part of me is thinking to just retreat from the real world and absorb myself back into gaming and into anime and sci-fi. Heck at this point the gaming and fantasy world seems better anyway.
Google the word hikikomori - been going on in Japan for a long time and I think that's where the west is headed. You're not alone in your desire to live in a fantasy world. A lot of guys are essentially dropping out of society (see MGTOW), I mean who wants to live in and interact with a world where you're constantly told your very existence as a male is toxic? The modern world caters to young women and largely ignores young men.
Only time will tell what the effects of that are en masse. While history doesn't repeat itself, it sure as frick rhymes and if that's any indication...the results will be disastrous. Most days I feel like my only purpose is to work in order to pay taxes for dem programs, I don't really get to enjoy the fruits of my labor because they mostly end up going to someone else. I figure I'll get sick of it eventually and just off myself, probably at the first sign of a serious health issue.

Haha church is the last place I'm ever going again. Completely politicized and a waste of time. I go to church once a year now just to keep the parents happy and not have a meltdown on Christmas Eve but that's it.

I don’t get the whole gaming world. But everyone has their own escapes from reality. It can be healthy. But it can easily be detrimental if it becomes your whole world.

I game a good bit. Don't really play a lot by myself but play with a bunch of old high school friends. There's nothing wrong with it.
You can do both though
I'm engaged and still game almost daily - on top of working out and staying social.

Do you live in a bigger city? In a place like Baton Rouge I had trouble with that. I knew half the girls on the apps and the other half were divorced and/or had kids. Depending on the city, there are plenty of girls out there who are smart, attractive, and only reasonably crazy.
Try meeting some people with similar interests and that could lead to meeting women. I'm pretty introverted as well but there's someone out there for everyone.. just have to put yourself out there.

Your life. Do what you want. But you should try getting some arse. It would do you good.
ETA: I play games from time to time. I can’t waste a whole day away like I used to.

I'm only vaguely familiar with the whole MGTOW thing but I definitely agree with a lot of your points. We live in a society now where young women are almost always catered to and encouraged to rise up, while young men are constantly trashed and torn down. Part of me would definitely like to go my own way.
Like you I work full time and for what? Between paying federal (luckily no state here) taxes, HOA fees, state property taxes, homeowners insurance and medical insurance, how much of it do I really go to keep? Honestly while I don't hate my job I don't love it either and if I could I would absolutely go down to part time and just work 3 - 4 days a week. Problem is my health isn't great (high blood pressure, asthma, allergies, GERD) so I need the health benefits. Luckily my job considers 32 hours to be full time so I'm trying to just work 4 days a week most weeks.
Like you I think the effects of the war against men will be pronounced. I think you'll see suicide rates (and no I'm in no way considering offing myself, if for no other reason I would never do that to my mother) skyrocket and if women think the dating scene is bad now they don't know what's about to hit them. Like you said we're going to same route as Japan where males have shunned marriage and family life in mass and the population is declining.
