You're just caught up in the media shift.

As long as there have been men, there have been hobbies, and as long as there have been women, there has been a pool of women that are ok with the hobby, a pool that don't give a shite, and a pool of entitled bitches.

It doesn't matter, it can be anything from woodcraft to Warcraft. There's gonna be one of those 3 chicks around. Just cut bait on the third and fish a different pond.

Sometimes you find what you want when you stop looking.

Are you doing the whole dating stuff because you feel like that is what you are supposed to do?

Do what makes you happy, What feels good to you,

I am not that big of a gamer, I just like to play a shooting game because I get a rush being a sniper and taking people out...

You get into it as much as you want. You are an adult, you have no one to answer to.

My girl knows I'm an avid gamer. I got a custom built PC that I designed and put together myself, PS4 + Xbox in my game room as well. I put a couch in there so when I'm gaming on the weekend she can sit there and look pretty while she studies or watches a movie on the flatscreen while I'm pwning noobs.

It really depends on the type of girl you got too though, she's really the only one cool enough to let me be me and enjoys just being around me. So I put a ring on it.

Go to comicon or Twitchcon and find you a girl who likes to nerd out as well. They are great in bed

It's hard for other people to like you and have faith in you when you don't like or have any faith in yourself.

Part of me has just decided in the last few days to live for myself. What do you think? If I'm not going to ever have a wife and family, why bother? I loved gaming back in the day and I've followed a fair amount of anime and sci-fi series into adulthood. Part of me is thinking to just retreat from the real world and absorb myself back into gaming and into anime and sci-fi. Heck at this point the gaming and fantasy world seems better anyway.

If you want to live for yourself, don't care about much outside in the real world and want to play a bunch of video games, that inherently isn't a problem. You do you.

But the tone of your OP would suggest there's a bigger issue that you may need to confront IMO.

I guess the biggest issue I have is that I have no purpose in life at this point. In your 20s it's okay, even embraced, to not have a true purpose. But now a lot of things seem empty. Even traveling by myself has changed. I used to love solo trips but now there's an empty feeling knowing I have no one to share it with. I know I should try to resolve the fact that I have no purpose in life but again at this point why try?

And there ya go.

That's definitely a problem, man. Whether it's a therapist, friend, family member...you probably really need to speak to someone. What you're describing sounds like depression.

There is some sad shite on this thread but this statement is one of the most pathetic.
What in the hell is the world supposed to give you?You have a life,it’s up to you to live it.Our constitution guarantees us life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness-that’s it.If you choose not to pursue it,that’s on you.If you sad sacks prefer to sit around playing video games and fapping, feeling sorry for yourselves,it would be better you didn’t procreate.
There are lots of activities people can engage in and meet people. One thing that comes to mind are exercise and running clubs.I see these 5ks on news, looks like a lot of hot chicks in their running pants.Get a fricken dog and go to dog parks, there are agility competitions for dogs, frisbee competitions.Art clubs. These are just things off the top of my head.
There is something for everybody, you have to find your niche. You’re not going to find it being absorbed in some fantasy world.Nobody is going to come drag out of your gaming chair with your loser attitudes and say “Hey man, lets go have some fun”.
This thread has truly put me in a funk.

Well this is the root of all of your unhappiness. Every man needs a purpose. That's the very essence of being a man; purpose, drive, pursuing a goal, achieving.

Certainly have no chance of hanging on to a woman with no purpose. You end up making her your purpose and no woman wants that. The good ones want to come along for the amazing ride that a man with purpose is already on.

Yeah. Life is hard. Grow a pair & deal with it.
Or just give up and whine about dating.
Retreat into a fake world because you can't/won't deal with the real world.
Pathetic.
Young people are so weak.

BR dog park is closed right now. I was really disappointed when I saw that. I hope it reopens soon so I can bring my Aussie out.

Sometimes you gotta mix it up. Do something completely different than your normal. Maybe visit Starkville one weekend and you'll realize how much potential and positive things you have going for you.

To respond to multiple posts here, yes I agree that the fact that I have no purpose in life is probably my biggest problem and has led to other issues. I also don't deny that I might have some form of depression, which is probably rooted from the lack of purpose. The problem is I have no clue how to fix it or where to even begin.

I'm sorry, that was never my intent, just to get some advice. But yes welcome to what I'm experiencing. I've been in this funk for days now. I guess it started on Valentine's Day and I still haven't gotten out of it.

I just don't see a lot of options in my area. It's either go really young (early to mid 20s) or deal with a woman who has been divorced and/or had kids or a woman I'm just not attracted to.

You're just going to have to lower your standards like my wife also had to do.

Part of me just doesn't care about anything out in the real world anymore. There are some activities I used to like that I no longer enjoy. I used to enjoy being outside but honestly my body just doesn't like the heat anymore (I live in Florida so of course it's like an inferno 8 months out of the year) and would rather be inside.

Because you were born and raised in a culture of nihilism and moral relativism. Everyone is correct and everything is right.
