I understand the impulse. The world we live in is really, really awful. It just freakin' sucks. How are you supposed to motivate yourself to "move up" in the world when there's nothing you care about possessing? It's really horrifying tbh that humans can so easily conceive of worlds/universes that are objectively better than the one we live in.
Life is hard. The world is a brutal place. True. However, if you allow yourself to miss out on the good that the world does have to offer, you’ll regret it. The world is a big place. For all the bad that exists, there is a lot of good.

Random advice from a random person on the internet:
Stop worrying about what other people think and how you present yourself to others. Ask yourself, "what do I want to do? What makes me happy?" Play games... or not. It doesn't matter. One of the reasons you are being unsuccessful on the dating front is that you are trying too hard. Stop worrying about finding someone and devote that attention to yourself. More often than not, when you stop looking for something you end up finding it.

ETA: I play games from time to time. I can’t waste a whole day away like I used to.
I wish I could. Honestly I wish I could. I'm not asking for some model, just once I would love a decently attractive woman in her 20s. She doesn't even have to like me, just a one night stand. Sex both excites me and scares the hell out of me being a virgin though. Never mind attracting a woman, I've never had the skills to do it and/or a wing man to help me.

This is a good movement in regards to the overlying idea. I do agree with it for the most part, however, a lot of people have claimed this movement and used it to hate and bash on women and others.
It has gotten a relatively bad reputation in the media (not shocking, I know).

You really need to get some self confidence. You really just have to keep trying until you succeed. Try socializing with people that have the same interests.

And that is probably my #1 problem. I don't know who I am anymore. I don't know if I ever truly knew who I was. And I have no clue how to find who I truly am. Yes I have things that make me happy. I like video games. I like sci-fi and anime. I like traveling and enjoy activities like tennis and board games (though I'm absolutely terrible at most of the ones I've played, lol). I enjoy watching football. But beyond the surface I really don't know who I am anymore. When I look in the mirror I feel like I barely know that person.

The problem for young men is that the "good" seems to be shrinking rapidly. The things previous generations fought for and had to look forward to don't exist for us. Work hard for 40 years, save and invest, and maybe...just maybe you'll get to retire and enjoy life when you're too old and broken down to really do much.
I know a handful of people who are unemployed and live way better than I do - regular doctors visits, newer car, nice smartphone etc. A Native American acquaintance (unemployed, claims she has lupus and fybromyalgia) just stocked her house full of food because it was commodity day at her tribe's community center. What is commodity day, you might ask? They literally give every member of the tribe boxes and boxes of food: cheese, bread, milk, applesauce, canned vegetables. This woman's medicine closet looks like she robbed a fricking Walgreens, she has the absolute best drugs in her house and she didn't pay a cent for them. shite is beyond broken in this country.

Start going to gaming cons, get involved with running and volunteering for panels. Find someone in that circuit that will share this hobby on more than just a casual level. They will probably be much more understanding of your game play and why you like to do it.

Video games are fricking great for stress relief when you're in the medical/healthcare field as a student or professional. Especially if you aren't attached and with kids.
And honestly, who the frick cares what your stress relief strategies are as long as they aren't illegal or putting others at risk.

You need to find where whatever your counter would be in the opposite sex is.
I'm sure there are women who are into what you are into, you just need to figure out how to find them.

Move away from the self-centered life. Look for opportunities to help others. Maybe through your church or other service organizations.
I too struggle with anxiety and am somewhat of an introvert. However, i always feel better about my self when i can help someone else.
Start with small acts of random kindness, and build on that. And dont be discouraged if you are not successful at first.

I couldn't have said it any better. The thing to me that's the biggest farce is retirement. With the cost of living and things like pensions before all but gone, the traditional idea of retirement is gone.
I'm seeing this with my parents. My dad just stays at home most of the day and drives my mom crazy either messing stuff up or just walking around looking for stuff to do. It's not the "travel to Europe, catch up with friends playing hobbies, backpack around the world" stuff that they proclaim it to be.
I've accepted that I'll never truly be able to retire. Like you said Boring by the time most of us young men can retire we'll be too broken down physically to do anything. I think that's the part of my personality that's changed the most these last few years. I've realized if I want to do things I've got to do it now. If I wait until retirement when my health is even worse all I'll have during retirement is regret.
Heck I just got put on Nucala for asthma. Between the $20 I have to pay for the medicine (and that's with the co-pay assistance card) and $40 for office visits that's going to be $60 each month for an injection. It's absolutely infuriates me that people like the Native Americans you mentioned probably get all this stuff for free.

THIS........Dam Guide is so right.
You just have to find your niche....gaming is fine....and get super involved in that niche. There are women who like what you like.....but being antisocial won't get you anywhere.
Become social in whatever your niche is and you will find love.
You have to die some to gain, you have to hurt to grow, so extend yourself, die some, harden your mind, become strong, determined, live my friend.

So as a guy in his thirties who spent his 20's gaming, let me say.
Don't give up man. Don't go full incel or whatever they call it. There's nothing wrong with gaming, if you do other stuff. Sounds like you do.
Keep working out. Don't stay home every night, and let what may happen happen. Get on some dating apps and put yourself out there and don't worry about.
Get involved in a church and go for the single ladies there too.
But no, there's nothing wrong with gaming a few nights a week.
ETA: Gaming is a great hobby. But I wish I had put half my time into learning guitar.

Good on you
I have played through FFXV twice leveling all of my characters up to lvl 100 and maxing out their skills and hunter rank.
The only quests I’ve never beaten are Stealing the Past and Liege of the Lake.
I have no room to talk.
