Interesting. Always wondered how those work, pay wise.
When do they start paying your mileage? When you pick the trailer up or do they include the mileage from your home to the pick up location?
If you lived in New Orleans and had to go pick up a trailer in South Bend, Indiana to deliver to say, Atlanta, do they pay the mileage for the complete trip or just for the Indiana to Atlanta leg?
Example:

470 miles = Atlanta to New Orleans
That’s a 2100 mile round trip.
So do you get paid the mileage rate for 2100 miles or just 670 miles?

I deliver pizzas as a second job. Pretty mindless work and can walk way with decent tips. I’m single and 32 so that could be why it works for me. It may not provide enough income for you though.

I have a friend about your age who is retired and he started bar tending at a craft beer bar as he is into craft beer. Find something working in whatever hobby or interest you have.

Take a Quickbooks class and do some bookkeeping. Small business owners will pay meh money, but you can do it on the road and it's not very hard.

Most third party companies like that let the drivers bid/set just a total payment, so you're not being paid by mile, but whatever bid you make.
