My MIL is retiring in May(teacher and no pics)and we're willing to host a retirement party. I'm not having 50-100 folks I don't know to my house, so I'm seeking a venue. Being that it's end of May/beginning of June, the bigger places are already booked. Any recommendations? TIA

Just invite a bunch of her students for a private party, and she'll be set.

Retirement party? How about at the Cadillac with paid "dancers".

Going from being off 4+ months a year to all 12. I'm sure the transition will be smooth

Well, you didn't mention where you are located, but I always celebrate retirements at The Crazy Horse Cabaret in Port Allen. They always put on a nice spread and the buffet is to die for.
