What would entice you back into enlisting? World keeps talking about butting heads with China and wondering if thats enough to wear the uniform again.

You’ve completed your service. Let the trannies fight the next war.

Good buddy of mine was offered an exorbitant monthly salary to work as a PMC in you know where. He is also a weirdo who misses combat, so I guess he'll make a fortune or die.

Side question -
For those of you who served, how many of you would discourage your kids from doing so in the current political/national climate? I get the sense it's a pretty strong number but could be wrong.

What is there left to fight for?

Tell that to my tax dollars

Depends on the branch. I’m sure space force people are not yet worried about dying in a Star Wars style battle.

I’d go to Ukraine if I could get a ptsd check and a refugeegf

As much as I enjoyed my time as a Corpsman I love my freedom more. I don't want some dickhead telling me what to do just because he was in longer.
@Pettifogger
I tell my kids don't but I got some kids I used to coach that are in and doing great for themselves.

I did my time for my country back when I was proud as hell to be an American. Retired and walked away. Under no circumstances would I go back. This is not the same country anymore. Let the paid trolls on here and their liberal commie cohorts fight for their idea of "freedom". I am busy with my family and my path to heaven.

I'm much too old and far too large for going into a combat zone...
(bonus points if you get the reference)
that being said, I can still push paper and do other things to support...
what I'm looking to do when I retire from this job is to join the State Guard (either LA or MS depending on where I end up) and volunteer to support funeral details a couple of days a month...just have a crusty old colonel show up to present the flag to survivors in this day and age of limited funeral details I think would be a good thing.

Count me in this group….there is no way in hell I’d allow my kids to enlist in this woke bullshite. Until the Biden cronies and policies are gone, this will continue to be an issue. People will refuse to join and people will continue to separate/retire in high numbers.

Unless they are storming the beaches in Pensacola, me and mine aren’t interested. My ancestors fought in the revolution and I’ve had a family member in almost every conflict since, myself included.
I’m not interested in sacrificing my son on the alter of globalization. My family has done its part. It’s someone else’s turn.

Aside from force, Not a fricking thing could entice me to go back. 20 years was enough

i served 8 years in the corps. spent time in iraq in 1998.
i'd punch my son in the jaw if he enlisted in this bull shite era of a sissy pants military.........any branch. thankfully he received an academic scholarship and is close to graduating.

As a white male, this administration has repeatedly blamed me for the problems in this country. So I will keep my combat veteran arse on my couch and continue to stockpile ammo to defend myself when that time comes.

Closed that chapter of my life. I got caught up in Afghanistan deployments as a 21B, route clearance along the Pak border/N Afghanistan.
I honestly wouldn’t trade my time in while on active duty for anything. It was a fun ride while you’re younger. However, when you age you realize you’ve put into the GI Bill for all those years and there comes a time to collect on it to help solidly your future.

When you become very efficient at hunting people, there isn’t anything else on earth that will ever relate to it.
