Quit eating out, problem solved.

It was lunchtime and we were 90 min from home

I do find myself eating out less and less.

Correct. But technically the discount will not apply to debit cards. Just cash. I agree that it needs to be shown before the receipt. It is on some of the card machines but also on the receipt. I know gas stations a while back like shell had price signs that showed both. Not sure how business owners now will go about it. Many of them are confused or don't care until MC or Visa fines them.

People are less likely to notice a plate going from 13.00 to $13.50 than they are to notice that slap in the face

these restaurant owners are making an absolute killing right now. Pure greed when we're just trying to feed our families.

Starting to see that as well. Also a “kitchen wellness fee.”

Or just tell the bartender to send a 6-pack of PBR to the kitchen.

I would not tip a single dime. I know it sucks for the servers but this would be the best way to attack it. They don't get tipped, they raise hell with the owner. He would lose his staff if he didn't revoke the fee.

This shite is unacceptable.

Why stick 18 to 22 year old waitresses making $2.13 / hour plus tips in the middle of this. Take it up with the manager not the wait staff working their way through college who gave your table great service. Do you really think thye are going to jeopardize their jobs by raising ehll with their boss?

Did people really think the small businesses were going to eat that 4% cc fee? You will see a 4% price increase, 4% administrative fee or it will be listed as a 4% inflation fee. I do think businesses should just mark their pricing up 4% though instead of just listing it on the bottom of a receipt.

It's a very difficult business with a high rate of failure.

Saw it yesterday on a restaurant tab in downtown BR. They referred to it as “inflation charge”

Then change your menu prices to reflect inflation. I'm not paying some nonsense made up charge that isn't clearly printed on the menu.

I don’t frequent the places that pull that after the first time. They generally go out of business with 6 months of starting that bs.

Because that is teh only option given when they sneak this shite onto the bill after you've already eaten.

If they aren't making money, yes. The business knows what they're doing by adding these fees only after the food is eaten. They are banking on the customer not reducing the tip and the servers not complaining. frick that.

You realize that credit card companies are making real good bank even at 1.5%?

all forms of payment including cash.

A full service restaurant (sit down) averages a profit margin of between 3-5%. You can feed your family at home. I could pay $18 for a single Reuben at a restaurant, or I can spend $20 at H-E-B and make six of them.
