Resignation from Remote Work

I am putting in my notice today and want to give a full 2 weeks but my manager is out of the office till Wednesday. Is it bad etiquette to just send an email as opposed to waiting and speaking via video chat or telephone call?
I am a remote worker and my boss is in another country (not because of a trip but that is where he is located).

That’s tough…but if you have to work somewhere else in 2 weeks it is what it is.

You aren't breaking up with a girlfriend, just send the email.

Amateur. See how long they pay you without knowing you quit.

Are you starting a new job on 1/17?

A guy I work with sent his resignation email on a day our offices were closed, the 23rd.
Send it.
Send it.

“In two weeks you’ll notice you haven’t heard from me in two weeks…”

1/24 but moving to a different state.

Poop in a FedEx envelope and send it to boss (1st Overnight)...assuming you have the corporate account number.

Just send an email and mention in the email that you would've preferred to tell him over the phone or video call if he wasn't out of the office. Say you couldn't delay your notice until he got back because of your start date for the new job.

I say it depends on how your relationship is with your current boss and if you think your paths will cross again in the future.
I would write up the email, but give him a call first on his cell. If he answers, let him know you respect his vacation time, but felt it was more respectful to give him a call. Address it quickly and let him know you will work with him on transition when he is back "in the office."
If he does not answer, I would fire off the email. Be ready to answer his call the first time if he calls to discuss.

Fair enough. Nothing wrong with sending the email now. Is there anybody else that you have to include/cc on the notice? Co-workers/HR/etc?

You could call them anyway.
They are out of office but their phone still works.
When I did it, my boss was out of office. I handed in a hard copy to their boss, then followed it up with an call to my boss and an electronic copy to HR. frick it.

Just quit and don't say anything. If they ask, tell them you've moved past working remotely and are now working telepathically, and it's their fault if they haven't changed with the times to be able to accept your resignation.

Very smart.
I did the same a few yrs ago and the week between jobs was invaluable.. moving to another state is stressful enough without tying up loose ends in a job, or starting a new job.. if anything, i wished id taken two weeks between jobs after all was said and done.

He is in Germany and don't have his personal line. In the past we have communicated via Whats App during non working hours but I am 99% sure it is on his work phone.
