In the past our family reunions usually happened at weddings. Now it seems they are more likely to happen at funerals.

With social media and smart phones, you're able to follow people's lives a lot more than you were able to 30 years ago. I guess some people think that these gatherings aren't necessary if they can talk to family regularly through various social media apps (I don't share this view).
People are a lot more mobile these days too. My extended family is scattered all over the country.

Used to see my aunts uncles and cousins at my grandparents reunions several times a year. They have since passed on as have a few aunts and uncles.
Now I am the uncle and my parents are the grandparents and my kids are the grandkids and I have nieces and nephews. We get together at least twice a year.
Simple answer, you're still having family reunions, just your role has changed now.

I betcha the majority of black family reunions that still happen are plagued by violence.

Haven't heard of that shite in decades

Is there anything about black people this place won't complain about?
Some of you probably got your bitch on in the 1990s whenever they had these reunions in the parks or wherever.

Very true. And families are generally speaking smaller. So there’s just not as many people
My wife has a family reunion for her Grand parents family tree probably every 18 months. Which means 3 sets of grandparents now and however many grandkids.

I'm going to go out on a limb and it's a decline in the fertility rate.
In 1997 everyone went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to see their 5 siblings or 10 cousins. Now you go to Grandma and Grandpa's house to see your one sibling or one cousin.

70% of black kids are born without a father in the home. How are you supposed to reunite a family if it never existed in the first place -

He certainly did destroy the nuclear black family, and it’s taking its toll on the nuclear white family too.

We don't do this either. Extended family at Christmas. Close family regularly. We see the ones we want to see. That's enough.

Always thought that was kinda cool tbh. Just realized I haven’t seen it in a while.
