I was working up in Jackson, MS back in the early 70's at a Marina on the Ross Barnett Reservoir and the same thing happened with a stunt pilot and a reporter.
Something went wrong and the plane crashed nose first into the water and both were killed.
Can't imagine heading out to do a story about what should be a pretty exciting day only to die like that. I'd imagine you'd know it's not going to be good by the pilots reaction and then seeing how fast you're approaching the ground those last few seconds.
RIP.

Man that is awful. I read where the pilot was Franklin Augustus, a highly skilled aerobatic pilot that performed in around 500 airshows a year. One of the only black civilian airshow pilots around anywhere, ever.
Terrible tragedies like this will make you feel sick. RIP

Yeah and you see the natural way she was on camera and how they talk about her being such a joy to be around and then imagine the scene in that plane as it was out of control. It had to be incredibly terrifying

Augustus was 69 years old, make me wonder if he didn’t have a massive heart attack and that was the cause of the crash. Hard to imagine it was pilot error or mechanical.

69 is not that old, but I guess anything is possible.

Hopefully the amount of video on Nancy doing what she loved will be comforting for the family and close friends as they deal with her tragic loss.

Some people can’t help themselves. Idiots.

I don’t think that’s correct. Pretty sure they said he’s done around 500 airshows his entire life.
Not in one year

Channel 4 did a nice opening segment just now. I haven't seen anything on 6

I’m sure all the stations will at some point.
Travers already posted something on Facebook.

didn't realize Chris Franklin had been at WVUE for about a decade before moving on to WWL
nice touch to give him time to say something since he did work with her for so long

Man that's sad. I liked Nancy Parker in the mornings. Prayers to the family.

That is what the article stated, but I agree they must have misunderstood, or been misquoted. TP I believe.

Losing Mrs. Nancy is very sad for our community. I never realized how tight the television media is within a local or statewide market. So many friends and colleagues loved Nancy and she will be missed. Why did this have to happen ? No one is guaranteed another day.
May her husband and kids be offered peace during this difficult time. This is shocking news for everyone but her family needs prayers.

there's a lot of movement in the news industry... so if you stay in 1 market for a while you'll probably work with every other mainstay in said market at 1 point or another
I worked at WWL-TV as essentially an intern from 2009-2010... a lot of the people I worked with at WWL-TV at that time are now at Fox 8
and then they see each other at different events... award shows, press conferences, that kinda stuff
you really do get to know each other in the industry

I wonder if this is it on FlightAware
Doubtful. Probably squawking VFR if they were sightseeing or doing acrobatics.
