Having experienced a sudden loss like this before I can say it is probably actually helping them to cope with it. But having to do it on air in front of everyone I can't imagine.

right... for the last 6 hours since they found out Nancy had passed (considering the photog was there almost immediately... the station probably knew within 15 minutes of the crash that Nancy was involved and it wasn't looking good)... they've had this job to do of putting the stories of the crash and her life and career together to get it ready for air on this newscast

now that the job is mostly done and the show is now on air... it's starting to hit home now that "my friend and co-worker, who I just saw this morning/afternoon, is never coming back again"

OP updated - had dinner and movie with the family tonight

I made original OP based on a FB blurb of a plane down. No concept it would turn into this.

RIP to both individuals and thoughts go out to everyone who knew both of them

Thoughts and love out to you LA/NOLA folks
She seemed pretty damn great at what she did and even more importantly a great human. As someone who works in the profession I can only imagine how devastating this is and will be for your community in the coming days

Doubt weather had anything to do with this. We’ll see.

Don’t think so either. It was sunny all day and during that time with very minimal wind. I’m wondering if the pilot had a heart attack or something health related

Just saw her on the news this morning like nearly every morning.

Such a classy wonderful person.

yeah... Fox 8's Monday morning show I'm sure is going to feel super weird

it will have been long enough to process the fact that she's gone... but when they get to the office and she's not there... that feeling of loss will come right back

WDSU has cell phone video of really dark black smoke associated with their reporting on Nancy's death

I have the Twitter link. It shows what looks like some fat middle aged white people at a pool looking over at the billowing smoke stunned.
I'll post the Twitter link if everyone thinks its appropriate. But, it doesn't show anything other than the smoke.

I met her twice about 10 years ago, once when she was a customer at the store I was working at and then a few weeks later in the Toys R Us checkout line doing Christmas shopping. You’d be hard pressed to meet anyone more outgoing and friendly than she was. RIP

Wow! So tragic. My morning ritual of fox 8 news with the duo of Snell and Parker was great. RIP Nancy Parker

They showed that on the news. You can’t see anything other than the smoke but why even show.

She was an honest and genuine lady. I was on air with her several times for my work. Classy as she could be, on and off camera. I have to say I will miss her. RIP and prayers for her family and friends.

you know what... they were probably done shooting the story

I'd be willing to bet the shot of the "8" in the sky was the last thing Parker needed for her story and then her and the photog would be back on their way to the station

right... the interview was done

the camera guy that was shooting Parker's story said Parker & Augustus were going to do a figure 8 in the sky a couple thousand feet up

that was probably the last shot/pieces of b-roll needed for the story (plus more than likely... the landing)

I never want to speculate but being right off the end of the runway has me considering mechanical issue. I’m no expert so I’m just guessing.

witness WWL-TV interviewed said the plane's nose was down... I don't know if said witness meant like "pointing straight to the ground at 90 degrees" down or like "gliding angle" down

Met her at a party once and showed her pix of my etch-a-sketch art. A month later, she had me on Fox8 to show it off.

Super nice lady. Approachable and genuine. RIP, Nancy.

A buddy of mine used to work behind the scenes at fox 8. He said Nancy was one of the nicest people you would ever meet. He said (even though she wasn't like super famous) she would talk to everyone and was just overall a nice person.
