Somewhere is the DC metro area, John Bolton is in his car on the way to the ER because of a 4 hr erection.

I don’t get the hate for Bolton. He was a hard liner cause he understood exactly what we are dealing with in the Middle East.
Granted, I’d prefer not to deal with them at all, but at least he had an understanding of what needed to be done if you insisted on dealing with them.

WTF are you talking about?
Ally? What decade are you referring to?
He’s not completely wrong. Iran has a large secular faction that would be a strong ally of the US if not for the hardliner Islamic faction. They have a democratically elected president, but he doesn’t hold much power in their governmental framework. The Supreme Leader and his counsel hold more power, especially with foreign policy.
So no, Iran will never be a US ally with their current governmental framework. And that framework isn’t changing anytime soon, especially after last nights events. The Ayatollah is going to use it to rally nationalist support.

The online panic is really something. People are legitimately freaking out over this. Just breathe, people.

This thread is pretty pathetic, but a good snapshot of where we are as a country. Everyone would rather get their digs in on the other political side rather than discussing the actual events and what happens next. Even the links and quotes, just other people trying to get their hot takes in on why Trump is a dipshit or a hero. I cant wait til this divisive period is over, but will probably get worse before it gets better.
If you arent someone who understands the middle east and has significant experience over there, your opinion doesn't matter.

Only if you want a lot of dead Americans.
Airborne is best for taking objectives, not holding it against a static insurgency.
You’ll want some mechanized infantry for that.

You were doing fine until this gem. This is a bad take.

Can you not comprehend how this shite could go south in a matter of weeks? The embers of war are steadily burning over there and a fan just got turned on. Maybe we are able to de-escalate. If not, sides will be chosen.

You didn't even need the pics. You could have just waited until Anderson Cooper compared the Iranian general to Charles DeGaulle.

Yeah everyone is all in on the "frick CNN" narrative when they just had an informative and solid interview with Mike Pompeo.
Adam Kinzinger (Iraq war vet and Republican) is on there now.
MSNBC is the worst. Scarbrough has been talking politics this morning and mostly avoiding this story.

Iran isn't going to do shite. They knew exactly what that shitstain general was and has been doing for years. And no one is in Iran's corner on this, or anything else. Especially since everyone knows it was Iran behind the US Embassy attack.
They'll saber rattle to stir up their populace to keep the theocracy in power, and that's it.

Are they? I see a lot of saber ratting happening from Iran's side, but there won't be a war.
Iran isn't stupid. They understand what would happen to their country.

No, we couldn't (unless the military has something we don't know about that would be a game changer)

One good thing about this. This might work as an incentive to keep certain former bureaucratic fricksticks from meeting with people like this and undercutting American foreign policy while doing it. I'm talking to you Lurch.

I don't know enough about this situation to discuss it. That's why I am reading this thread, to try to get a better idea of things, but this would be my assumption. I would think we are way ahead of Iran's military.
