I’m assuming the US had Iraq’s permission here? Two Iraqi’s died also right? I mean we didn’t just blow someone up in The Middle East without the country knowing about it?

What’s the word on why he was in Iran? People act like Just because most Iraqi’s and Iranians hate each other their politicians don’t talk, but that’s not the case. He could have been there for a logical and peaceful reason, but I know that’s very unlikely. We didn’t need anymore justification, simply pointing out politicians travel and talk to other countries and it’s not always scheming terrorism.

We could crush Iran's entire military in a matter of days.

They know this.

Which is why nothing is going to happen but a bunch of saber rattling on their end to stir up their people to keep the very unpopular theocracy in power.

We are. The danger with Iran is they have multiple cells throughout the world that Soleimani built up and lead. They've also developed long range missiles, and have been developing nuclear weapons. So while their military might isn't that great, they still have the capability to inflict a lot of damage and bloodshed. And that's not to even mention their cyber warfare they've been developing over the last decade.

We've struggled in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, and Iran has a better military than all 3 of those. Carpet bombing an entire country sounds cool and tough on the internet, but isn't really a viable war strategy.

We've struggled in the epic waste of time and resources that is "nation building". We didn't even break a sweat when it came to the initial military operations in those countries.

You must not follow stuff like this. There is no question about this. The gap is so big it isn't even worth discussing.

One would hope, but the Gang of Eight in our own Congress wasn't informed, so it makes you wonder. Pompeo on CNN this morning said China was consulted, so maybe Iraq was too.

Yeah, and that was part of the overall mission. What would be the overall mission if we were to invade Iran?

Like I said, it sounds cool and tough on the internet to talk about just going in and mowing everything and everyone down, but what do you do once that is completed?

The DoD would not have authorized that strike without the Iraqi government being in the loop due to our SOFA.

LEAVE.

mow it all down and leave. don't half arse it. Don't go in with the idea of "removing the threat" then stopping. Go in and level everything and everyone. Then leave. Who cares if un-friendlies take over? They are going to hate us anyway. frick em. we can deal with that when the time comes. But don't leave anything for the next crew to work with. That should buy quite a bit of time before we have to worry about the new regime. And lots can change by then anyway.
our mistake is always trying to rebuild the shite we break so we can "win their hearts and minds". LOL. frick their hearts and minds. Both are dark and filled with hatred. So quit trying to befriend them. Kick the shite out of them and leave.
they may still hate us, but they wont be so quick to frick with us.

What exactly does this entail? Killing literally hundreds of millions of people?

Yeah, that's normal procedure. So is informing Congressional leaders, whether that be the Gang Of Eight or the Senate and House leaders, and that wasn't done. Given this administration's proclivity to set their own procedures, I think it's fair to question if they got clearance from Iraq on this one.

Apples and oranges. We annihilated Iraq's traditional military in a matter of weeks.

no, 82.1 million people per 2018 stats- if they choose to stay. but they won't. they'll flee like they always flee "war torn" countries. So you likely wont have to kill them all

try to marginalize the civilian casualties (as we always do), but destroy everything else. What's gonna happen? A humanitarian crisis? That's gonna happen anyway. Or at least that's how it will be reported. So to quote Hillary, "What difference does it make?".
They hate us now and are actively trying to harm us. why should we hold back? Wipe them out (including civilians if necessary, cause they'd do it to us) and leave. Let the rest of the world take care of it. They've been letting us take care of the world for decades. Time to let everyone else step up.

And that somehow improves the long-term national security?

Not really. There is no reason for Trump to not inform Iraq.

He has every reason not to inform Congress, specifically the House, until after the fact.

And you're seeing why play out on social media and left wing news organizations as we speak.
